In order.... I do, I do - but not to sell stuff, I don't.

I could recommend getting some from your dentist, but that's it. There are internet sites, but I have no idea where they source their supplies, or if it's genuine material, so I can't recommend those.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I have had my teeth whitened at the Dentist, I also bought the trays and gel to top-up at home, they are not as white as I would like, so am uisng the trays and gel at home daily. My question is what is the strongest % of gel that you can buy?

You can buy stupid strength gels (40% plus) But there is some evidence to show that every tooth has a max level of whiteness that it can achieve and once there that is it, no further improvement will be made. All gels will get you there, it will just take longer.
I wouldn't dream of letting a patient out of my sight with anything stronger than 10% though. Too much chance of chemical burn. A colleague of mine has received a complaint over this, they gave a patient 35% gel and the patient now feels that part of her gum has been burnt away. I suspect not as much as they claim but as no pre operative photos were taken we will never know

Of course there are some folks that have managed to make their teeth look like tipp-ex and they think it looks fab, when really it looks as false as anything

    Hi
Has anyone heard of or used this company here for the laser teeth whitenng procedure. It seems a lot cheaper then others and also cheaper than the DIY kits.

Has anyone had laser teeth whitening and how does this compare

    Thanks

Tooth whitening by people who aren't dentists is illegal, and should be reported to the General Dental Council.

    It's cheap for a reason.

No training, probably no insurance, no diagnostic ability, no way to put things right if it all goes wrong.

If you haven't got the money to sort out any problems it might cause, then don't touch with a bargepole. If you have - then save yourself a packet by getting it done properly in the first place.

I have used Listerine Tooth Whitening Strips which I buy when I visit DS in the USA. His teeth look great on them, but I'm a bit wary about using too often.

Toothsmith, I wonder what your thoughts on them are? Or, indeed, any commercial tooth whitening products.

Strips like that aren't licensed in this country.

The stuff you can by over the counter here can, at best, be OK at stain reduction, but that's about it.

Some of the ebay or internet stuff can be fake or harmful.

I personally wouldn't trust any of it.

( there is a huge thread on here about tooth whitening. Maybe this could be merged into it?)

    Mac123,

Thanks for the link, after reading their comments page my girlfriend and I have booked in to have our teeth laser whitened at Sunset teeth whitening clinic in Romford. It’s just £74.50 each, that is a huge saving considering my girlfriend paid £480.00 three years ago.

I’ll let you know how we get on!

    Mac123,

It's all good news as both of us have now had our teeth whitened at the Sunset clinic in Romford.

Firstly, WOW the results are amazing and cost us just £74.50 each! That's less than we spent on our meal for two last night. The whole process was explained to us first which made us very comfortable and all their certificates can be seen at the reception including certification from environmental health. While waiting we saw a person who just had the treatment and he was very pleased with the results.

Whilst waiting we also read their comments book which is pretty impressive with people coming from all over the country leaving good comments.

We would highly recommend Sunset Clinic to anyone who wants to have their teeth laser whitened professionally without having to spend too much money. Just wished they were closer to where we live.

Go and experience it, we're sure you too will be very pleased. You can find there website through google by typing in Teeth Whitening Romford.

A certificate from environmental health is meaningless!

The other certificates on the wall will be as well - they're just pieces of paper.

If there is no registration with the General Dental Council, it's illegal.

I can see that having tooth whitening for £75 sounds very good value, but the place will not have to have the same regulation, and levels of training as a dental practice doing it properly.

It will also not have the same diagnostic abilities, and they will not be able to recognise people who they shouldn't be whitening. People for who the whitening process could make pre-existing conditions worse.

In people like that, the immidiate result will look good still, but it may not be for another few weeks/months before the real damage becomes apparent.
