There's no need to travel to Harley Street for anything - in fact if I ever needed anything medical it would be the very LAST place I'd go.

Have you spoken to your own dentist about it.?

Chances are he or she will offer a perfectly effective system.

Baby teeth are always much whiter than adult teeth.

I'm surprised that your teeth are the thing that really bother you - that grey moustache and the fact you have the mouth of a 60yr old ex smoker would be a much bigger worry to me :D:D:D
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

    :DHa!

No i haven't my dentist isn't exactly the most friendly of people, NHS though so i can't complain.

Only reason i was looking at harley street was because i was googling for places in london that offer enlighten deep bleaching which i don't think my dentist offers.

I thought Harley street had a good reputation for cosmetic stuff, i think the channel 4 program 10 years younger whitened peoples teeth with dentists from harley street.

    Exactly my point!!!!

Find a decent dentist and get out of the mindset of being 'lucky' to have an NHS dentist.

If you can afford £700 to get them whitened, how much is keeping them for life worth?

Follow the tips in my signature line, and get someone local, who spends time with you, and can do straightforward non-damaging cosmetic stuff like whitening and who would try to talk you OUT of having anything done that damages teeth! At least without knowing exactly what you're getting into.

Dentists who take people with crapheaps for gobs, and do advanced cosmetic work on them without giving them any idea of how they need to change their habits and lifestyle in order to preserve it should be taken out and shot. (Not naming any telly programs specifically!)

anyone else see the whitest teeth ever on 10 years younger, though..they look completely un-natural and look more like false teeth, imho.

For those of you considering whitening, don't go toooo white, it looks very odd, just because it's in closer/heat/OK magazine every week, doesn't mean it's natural to want teeth that are that colour.

My teeth are naturally creamy coloured, the dentist always told me they were stronger than the whitest teeth, not sure if that's true or not:p

There really isn't that much difference between the systems. Most places that offer Zoom or the like also offer tray/gel systems to back up the power whitening (Because power whitening doesn't last very long). If you just go for that gel/tray system, then the results take longer to achieve, but it lasts longer in the end.

Ring up and talk to a few places about the options they have.

BUT - VISIT THE PLACE before you book any appointments.

  • Kaatiee,
It looks like your right front tooth is a crown (and will not whiten). You might want to factor in the cost of having this replaced as well.
Saying that, if you don't go to the expensive (and no better) guys on HArley street, you should probably find a dentist (via Toothsmiths guide) who charges around £350 for whiteing and £450 for a crown.
But don't go to a dentist based on your whitening needs. Make sure you are happy with them before you have any treatment done.
