Orange and E2Save Cancelling Offpeak Tarriff Orders

I know that others have mentioned this in other threads but I thought it would be helpful to give it a thread of its own.. E2Save are cancelling orange off-peak tarriff orders with most handsets.

I phoned E2Save back today about why Orange had rejected my order for a Nokia 6230i on Offpeak 1000 (free phone free linerental).

E2Save checked with Orange and Orange gave me the go-ahead, but not on that phone with that tarrif.

The reason given was that Orange had asked E2Save to remove the Offpeak tarrifs from their website, and to cancel all orders in progress. I was not exactly sure whether this was for all phones or just for certain phones. There are now only two phones on the Offpeak 1000 tarrif and the offers are rubbish in comparison with what they had.

So if you ordered a bargain off-peak Orange phone from E2Save recently and you have not received your order it is not likely to happen. What interests me about this, is that I thought that the resellers like E2Save had a certain freedom with what they did, Orange set the commission, and E2Save set the deals. Which makes me wonder if someone at either Orange or E2Save made a mistake about commision levels, because these really were exceptional deals.

  • Interesting. I wonder if that's part of Orange's changes for April.

I guess this applies to onestopphoneshop too.

Here's what happened to us today with OSPS.

My wife's just waited over 2 weeks for a gold nokia 7370 on off peak 1000 from onestop, 10 months free.

The phone arrived today, unbranded, unlocked and brown, not gold.

I thought that was a result as it's unlocked, it's not been hobbled by Orange, and the gold one is really tacky, but her heart was set on a gold one.

She phoned onestop to ask them to swap the brown phone for the gold one. They refused. Said if she wanted the gold one she would have to pay £6.99 a month.

She pointed out the page 2 weeks ago showed a gold phone, no brown phone mentioned, cs said the colour couldn't be guaranteed.

She threatened to cancel the contract, they couldn't care less.

In fact, they suggested she cancel, and put in another order, and she might get lucky next time and get the gold one.

    Now I know why.

I got her to point out they had seperate pages for the gold phone and the brown phone and they said they still couldn't guarantee the colour whichever page she went through. But if she would like to cancel and try again... Knowing all along she wouldn't get what she wanted.

Might just spite them now and keep the contract, and sell the phone. The brown one's not a bad looking phone, and it's tiny. Smaller than my ancient Sony Z5.

i have just seen a mail saying that the network has rejected my order. I know they are lying. And even if it were true, i am going to ask why and take this matter up legally. I think all of us who ordered these contracts should join hands and go after e2save. they have prevented me form ordering a phone elsewhere, because of the delay and misinforming me that i have will recieve the phone when they get more stocks in 7-10 days, which have already passed.

It sure is a fact that many of these e-tailers are changing their deals every day. It may be partly also due to a positive write up in the papers at the weekend......

On a more positive note, many of the "free" 12 month contracts featured phones that were returned models.

Although not such a good deal, I signed up yesterday via https://www.e2save.com for a samsung D600, on a 12 month contract, with eight free months, leaving me with 4 x£20 payments. I was able to get back £31.50 of this by accessing the site via quidco.com. So my actual monthly cost, for a state of the art phone, is still only about £4, which I think is a good deal.

As I write this, if you visit https://www.onecompare.com, you'll still find great phones like the Sony 750i available from https://www.onestopphoneshop.com for free on a 12m contract. If you then sign up via https://www.quidco.com, you'll get a £20 extra rebate, so in effect they'll be paying you for having a phone.

It may well be true that many of these deals are on the Orange 1000 off peak minute tariff, which isn't great, but if you are a casual user, it's a hard deal to ignore.

Might be useful to know... I checked the e2save website and my order has been on Awaiting Stock since 2nd March (ordered 1st March). Haven't received any communication from them so far.

All of these CPW group companies are a bunch of crooks - I ordered a Motorola V3 on OP1000 when the 12 months free offer started months ago - I never got a phone because they claimed that Orange had said that the address I supplied didn't exist - despite being the exact address from the top of the Orange bill that I already receive every month.

They are nothing short of a bunch of conmen - starting with Charlie Dunstone right at the top.

I have had a problem with Orange and my address, not sure which software they use to check but my postcode never pulls up my address.

So you don't like them then !!!!!!

I ordered a D600 and a V3 a couple of days later. Got the V3 yesterday (unlocked), but can't use it as either the charger doesn't work or the phone has a tech problem and can't be charged. The D600 order online says 'awaiting stock'.

I spoke to E2save yesterday and they are apparently ringing everyone up who as ordered on the OP1000 tariff.

Their attitude to me was "tough luck, would you like a tmobile tariff instead ?"

The woman I spoke to said that they can advertise whatever they want because it we do not have a contract with them until a telephone is connected to a tariff. Good attitude - I don't think so
