  • Hooray! I love this thread - it always makes me smile from ear to ear!

I have good news too - after being VERY polite but abrupt with the AA they've agreed to refund both lots of membership that should never have gone out of the bank (that OH didn't notice because he was avoiding his statements). So we're £90 better off!

Plus pin numbers arrived for the Tesco credit card I applied for - no cards yet though - which means we can start getting points back for purchases everywhere! (It also means that my credit rating is no longer shot - although that doesn't really interest me particularly much). Still waiting on news from the nationwide about our new current account and then we'll chase the banks for our charges. It's a good week so far though ...

My good news is that I've got a new job with a higher salary! :T

I'll be earning about £100 a month more after tax and NI which I'm aiming to put towards my debts. I was struggling on my last wages, but I've already saved as I can now walk to work instead of taking the train and paying the fares for that.

It's not the best job in the world, but it's a start and a very welcome one!
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

Well done MinnieSpender - best of luck with the new job.

Thanks for finding this thread for me too - I started a part 2 because I just couldn't see this one (I knew it was out there somewhere) ;)

It's been a hard few weeks for me and OH but with help from MSE and a bit of luck with ebay we've done OK.

I'm pretty new to the site but being able to update my sig and watching our debt go down really helps me when I have those "What's all this effort for?" moments.

Today my postie brought me...............a letter for my ex-bf (grrr-he moved out 3 yrs ago!!), my postal order from the post office for taking out my car ins with them!!
My leccy is now switched over to the new supplier and after some teething probs regarding them sending out the wrong key, then a key which got lost in the post, then the correct one which arrived yesterday with £5 credit on it as an apology for the hassle I am now paying 7.5p per unit and no standing charge (normally electric companies charge you for the privalidge of having a key meter!!)
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!

Yesterday I got my P45 from the job centre saying I will be getting £152.55 for benefits claimed in January!

And today I got a letter from norwich union saying they had set up my accident sickness & unemployment benefit up wrong, are sending me a cheque for £40.56 & giving me April free!

So instead of paying £20 a month my monthly payment has reduced to £17.

Not all the money is going on cards though. I will shortly need 2 new tyres for the car & I need new glasses, so the £152 is going into my savings account till I need it & the £40 is def going on a card!

  • My good news today is that I started collecting the brochures for Avon that I gave out on Monday. I have only done half my street and have another 2 streets to go, and already have £75 worth of orders and 3 more that definitely want to place an order, so they have kept the books for another day. So exciting seeing if anyone has filled in their order form. So many have also said that they missed Avon calling and are glad to see someone coming around again. Hope this continues and I get some good commission.

My good news is this morning i have just paid off my next balance :j this will bring my debt free date sooner but am going to leave it as it is for now!)

have also paid another 284.00 off a cc

and just had to tax the car!!
  • My good news for today is that I got my compensation from DSG Group for a faulty laptop - I paid in their cheque yesterday so will be able to pay off another loan soon.

Also Discovered that I do not have to pay my self-employment taxes until next year, so am going to use all the money I made from the small business I ran over the summer (which I haven't touched) to pay off another debt.

This means I can snowball and brings my debt-free date forward by 2 months to March 2007! So in a year I will be debt free!
