Anyone calling at your door 'collecting' is scum.

The fact they're apparently 'collecting' for ill children/breast cancer/heart etc is neither here or there. It's all about catching you out or making you feel uncomfortable. Charities at your door are simply new age gypsies selling pegs.

I have never heard of 'New Age Gypsies' before, though I have heard of Gypsy Travellers. Anyway that could be considered to be racist because 1) You have not used a capital G in the word Gypsy and 2) Gypsies are covered under the Race Relations Act 1976. I have people sell me double glazing at my door, would it be right to call them Gypsies .

Well if gypsies -or for that matter- Gypsies feel I have committed an offence then they aught to contact their lawyers and/or whomever deals with race equality nowadays. I may of caused a breach of the peace too so you might want to look into that also.

I'm sure there are lots of lovely gypsies/Gypsies and charity workers but if they're at my door selling pegs or death they are scum.

How good is your English? Not very, it seems. Yes, you could get away with "Gypsy [or gypsy] double glazing UPVC seller get off my property!". That's not a legal opinion but since gypsies have and still go around the doors I can't see any problem using the term to encompass all types of scum who doorstep you.

I find people who think it's OK to doorstep have or do it themselves. And finally -to wrap up- I used the term "new age gypsies". That has nothing to do with old or present gypsies. Just like "New Age Travellers" [pronoun] has nothing to do with 'Travellers' as we might think of people who were on the road in the last century of the type that the Nazis thought OK to slaughter.

If you still have to use the GIF:  then you are trolling or stupid. Or maybe both.
  • Have nowt to do with it and act dumb is best way. Always someone spying on someone nowadays. If I see someone in a car or writing stuff down especially outside the house I ask them what they are up to. Don't see why I shouldn't. I would never tell anyone someone elses business but my neighbour sits with her lips stuck on the glass and misses nowt.
  • I once had people around my area selling keyboards. After puchasing one of them I discovered to my horror that they would reverse the order of some letters at random making it difficult to read what I'd written. The two guys that sold it to me initially started asking about my neighbours etc.

    Surely they haven't struck again...

That is exactly what happened in the case of Rhys Jones:

Sometimes you have to speak out.

If I thought my neigbours were benefit fraudsters I would be on the phone straight away, they give all people on benefits a bad name.

Although my earlier post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, being serious for a bit, I have to agree with you uktyler.

I always try to treat people the way I would like to be treated myself.

None of us know when we may need help. A neighbour looking out for us, a stranger in the street coming to our aid when required. I guess its a case of striking the appropriate balance. Sometimes it may be fine to turn a blind-eye, sometimes speaking out has serious implications for that person's safety and the safety of their family. Hopefully in the majority of cases, a person's conscience will tell them the appropriate steps to take.

If you think my English is poor, maybe you should look at yourself!!!

I would like to think that I have helped many people on this board (I am sure the regulars would agree), what have you done apart from discriminate against the Gypsies. Why did you have to refer to door step sellers as Gypsies?

    No they are not.

And I suggest that you perhaps learn to articulate yourself a little less offensively?
