Call again and ask for the Customer Options Team. Keep calling until you get someone who knows about it.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Maybe try again as you will almost certainly get a different operator. Use the number in the link from the first post and refer to this site if they are still unsure?
I had mine all set up last Friday and it was very simple. Installing the BT Home Hub was very easy (much easier than my dad's orange livebox) and I was online within 10 mins of opening the box.

If youre having trouble getting set up via the phone why not PM one of the moderators on here. I did and had a seamless connection to BT...

Just to clarify, although the moneysavingexpert page states: "It's possible to get free BT line installation; this is a massive saving as usually it would set you back £122.50. This applies to new lines, reconnections or even having second lines fitted and isn't dependant on already having a master socket. The deal was scheduled to end on Wed. 30 Sept, and while BT has confirmed it's been extended it's has not said when it will end.
However, it involves signing up for an 18 month contract, rather than the usual 12" - I have spoken with BT TODAY (20th Oct09) and while they confirm that the offer is still running, it only applies to previous customers who have gone to another firm and are returning having now received a 'mailer' from BT - you are also required to quote an offer code from this mailer over the phone.0 -

Your post is misleading and therefore not helpful! see here
Simply ring the Customer options team 0800 100 444 and ask for this offer. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
My line was connected for free last Friday.
However, I have noticed something.
1) I am being billed quarterly despite asking for monthly
2) A £1.50 charge has been applied for every month of the three
The £1.50 is, I assume, if you don't pay via DD and insist on a paper bill. I setup the DD over the phone during ordering. I was told by the BT representative at the time of ordering that I would need to enable paper less billing online (which has been done).
But I am feeling some what annoyed the £1.50 charge has been applied to all of the months, even before I was able to disable paper billing.0 -
