  • Just for info, I called BT last night. I went on the website first and worked out what i thought was the best deal for me (BT Total Broadband Option 1).

After asking for the free installation (absolutely no problem, I was told!) they ran me through all the usual security and usage questions, and offered me the exact deal I was hoping for!

I've still to log on when my passwords etc arrive the get the online billing but it's all going fine so far. Engineer coming on 6th Nov to get me kitted out!

    Thanks to all!

    How's this for irony?

Had my line installed last week - it was removed in November 89 - and the only call I've made on it was to BT and the person the other end said the call kept dropping out every few seconds!! (despite giving all my direct debit details earlier they somehow didn't have it set up).

Double irony: as the BT engineer installed it he said it was reporting a line fault and went outside and installed a new run of cable. How do I get the line checked out?

    Hey Sui_Generis,

If the engineer reported a fault on your line it will be included on their notes and I can get this checked out for you. I have sent you a PM with a few more details.

Just had a new line connected under this offer and I now want ADSL broadband on the line.

However, it is a non LLU exchange (Southwell, Newark) so it appears that I am severely limited in my choices to find a 'value' provider.

Anyone got any ideas for BB provider? Cannot use Plusnet, AOL or O2 for example.

To add to my problem I want an unlimited downloads package.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Hey Brian The Lion,

Just to confirm that offer has indeed been extended until the 31/12/09. To qualify you must have both your line and calls through BT and make 10 chargeable or inclusive calls calls per month (30 per quarter) with BT or you will be charged a £6.80 per month/£20.40 per quarter on your bill. This charge will appear in the ‘One off charges’ section of your bill.

Drop me a PM if you need any help or wish to place an order.

    Thanks

    Shane.

Can you confirm if this offer is available in Northern Ireland please!
