This does work......if you're lucky! My 1st call went through to someone who was very unhelpful & she did ask me for a 'code'.I told her that I was unaware of this as I had not recieved a letter & I was informed about it on this site. To cut a long story short (much frustration on my part & I am sooooo not going to help you unhelpfulness on hers)I ended up back on the site looking for this code.
So, 10 minutes later armed with my new found knowledge (codes) I rang back. This woman also hinted at a code but got so caught up in explaining the whole deal to me: she forgot to ask me for it!RESULT!
I was considered a new customer as I haven't had a phone line in my home for over two years. So I'll be getting an engineer (apparently) to come out & make sure everything is alright in the next week.
Anyway the moral of this story is to keep trying! Some operators are more helpful than others, but this is something that they are definitely offering. Make sure you are prepared for any argument, if I had read some of the posts before I'd rung I'd have had more info.Debt £16,000

I was told I cant have free weekend and evening calls with this offer, only one or the other. :rolleyes:0

Just saw this on the Talk Talk website - haven't had an opportunity to check it out yet but if it's cheaper than connecting with BT then it's sounds good.0

Search for 'new lines' on the Talk Talk website. Special pilot offer of £59.99 to get a new phone line0

Hi. They said they were happy to reconnect my line but would not guarantee the same no.0

 I signed up yesterday, agreed the 122.50, and when i mentioned it was expensive was only given an option to pay over 6 months.
It's being installed on Tuesaday 28th? Does anyone know if i can cancel still?
YES! Common sense prevailed and yesterday after a 30 min call I managed to convince them that cancelling my BT Engineer appointment for Monday 27 April on my order of 7 April just to rebook a new order without the £122.50 charge was silly.
The consequence for me was a subsequent phonecall from Mumbai/Delhi 0800 0285085 from a girl that clearly couldn't speak English or understand it, reading from a script, trying to explain that I would be moving to an 18 mth line rental contract as a consequence of the change to a free connection offer. But if you can accept that, it saves £122.50. A no-brainer.
What gets me most annoyed is why this offer, seemingly on for 1 April to 30 June, was never offered to me in the first instance back on 7 April.0 -
If you are thinking about this for a second line and you already have broadband on your first line, Vonage would be cheaper. They charge £6 per month for free UK 01/02 calls, 24/7, compared with at least £11.25 pm for the BT weekend package and £17 pm for their 24/7 package.
Installation is effectively free. (Vonage do have some initial charges, but these are more than covered by the £60 cashback from Quidco.) 30 day moneyback trial.
Other VOIP providers would be cheaper still, but are less easy to use.
Edit: The BT 24/7 ("Anytime") package includes 0845 and 0870, but the Vonage deal does not. However, given the price difference of £11 pm, the Vonage deal is still way cheaper unless you spend a very long time on 0845/0870 calls. Neither BT nor Vonage includes 0844 or 0871 or mobiles.koru0 -
You'll automatically get free weekend calls with BT's basic 'Unlimited Weekend Plan', which as the name suggests gives you inclusive weekend calls, without any additional fee. To do this you need to commit to a 18 month contract at the usual line rental cost of £11.75. Do ensure you sign up to paperless billing and pay by direct debit otherwise line rental shoots up to £14. While usually the evening and weekend package is also free, you won't get it with the free line installation offer.
i was very happy to get this in my email as i found out today i got my rental property i am after todayand move on the 30th so rang bt
they said there is no connection at the property so i mentioned the offer and they said ok however if you have it you cannot have any line packages???!!! and if you have BB you cannot transfer it with the line it will be stopped and then restarted so you will be BBles for 7-10 days
so this offer seems nothing short of miscomunication0 -
Hi
I moved apartments in the same block on tuesday and rang up to get old line cancelled and new one setup. I'd been on old apartment for 5months and had to pay the line charge in there, i didn't wanna pay again, since the line is already setup etc, but there was nothing they could do.
I saw this thread just now and rang up instantly, i was transfered to customer service after being told the offer started the day after i rang up......anyway, the customer service lady was helpful and asked if i had a code, i said no, i've just seen it on MSE and she said, well it was intended for people from other providers to get them back, but she went on hold for a bit and came back and said we would be HAPPY TO WAIVE the charge as long as you make 10 CHARGEABLE calls per month. The charge will appear on the bill along with a credit note too. i.e. free.
So ring the 0800 number and get through to customer service and explain. I was a new order, and the engineer had not come round yet, so it was still being processed, i'm unsure how it would work later on, i.e. once the engineer had been etc.
Good luck!!0
