The Perfume Emporium have stolen my money

So has he now changed his server from Rapidswitch to Hostgator.com ?
i think his domain name is registered with enom so its probably worth everybody complaining to them as it seems he can just switch his domain name to different webhosts http://www.enom.com/help/AbusePolicy.aspx0 -
That is correct:
http://www.intodns.com/theperfumeemporium.co.uk
http://whois.domaintools.com/174.120.119.217
You can complain to hostgator, but the datacenter they are in (their provider) is www.theplanet.com with abuse contact of abuse@theplanet.com
I would add that if you have been given a refund or have received a cheque recently, you should probably not submit a complaint. If Chris really is working through the refunds then only those still without a refund should be complaining... You never know he may get to the end of the list..The Head Honcho (does very little work)0 -
Biggirlsblouse - no offence taken - sorry if I sounded a bit sharp! Certainly didn't mean to. I'm just so into everyone getting their money from this man!
Johnstone1 - my refund was by cheque - just sent via normal first class post. Chris responds quickly because he just can't afford to be closed down - how else would he make his money? A door to door conman?!
Mattwallisuk - good of you to post helpful information and keep an eye on this forum.
Chris obviously doesn't want to rock the boat with sentryhosting.co.uk so needs to distance theperfumeemporium.co.uk from it - ie get a different hosting company.
What does everyone think - I still can't believe that Chris has just got out of his depth as a businessman. There have been so many complaints - not just in the last few months but more than a year ago as well. He obviously gives a plausible account of himself to Trading Standards and other bodies and that is how he has managed to keep going.
I also lodged a complaint with my local Trading Standards who got back to me and told me they had forwarded it to his area TS who have knowledge of him. Also contacted the credit card company I used to pay for the transaction and they are still investigating it as a dispute and have TPE listed.0 -
HonestFriend, I find it hard to believe that he has gotten out of his depth as well. Whilst it's plausible that he could have set the website up without realising how much business it might generate for him and that he couldn't cope with it, why would he stock so many different brands if he knew he potentially couldn't fulfill the orders and, most tellingly of all, why does he keep changing hosts if he has nothing to hide other than incompetence?
Anyway, I did have an email from Chris today telling me he had sent my cheque out via regular first class post today so we'll see.
Whilst the refund will be nice, I do think that this guy should just have the plug pulled, but whilst he can keep moving from host to host and, as we know, use different real-life addresses too, unless someone like Watchdog get their hands on him, I doubt he will stop.
Sounds like a mammoth task but it crossed my mind about contacting the various companies of whose perfumes he stocks, letting them know that someone is using their name and logo to allegedly scam people?0 -
How does this sound? I don't think he is rotten through and through but he IS a danger. As I mentioned before, even if the orders HAD been sent out and he had the right to claim from Royal Mail, he is going to be well out of pocket as the type of delivery he uses only covers him for £30. I just hope that this Sentry Hosting site is above board because that is obviously where he is finding the money from to pay out to complainants of TPE.
So, let's hope that Sentry is bona fide, that it makes money for him and everyone gets their money back from TPE and then the site disappears into the web black hole. Pheww, what a wonderful world it would be!! (good line for a song!) And perhaps we could all go back to life before this forum!0 -
glad you got your refund honestfriend and it does give me some hope that it was by cheque as he has promised me and that you cashed it and it didnt bounce!
However just got a response from him saying he has sent it first class post written out to such and such and he has miss spelt my name. Sent one back asking him to reissue it with the correct spelling so hopefully this wont delay things even further...I've never known such a farce!0 -
Johnstone1, this guy must spend absolutely ages replying to emails - because I have to say, I have got a reply to everyone I have sent (over 50 of them!). Do you think this incorrect spelling of your name is a delaying ploy? I hate to sound pessimistic but I don't think he will ever pay out unless he is pushed into a corner and if this new hosting company aren't as hot as Rapidswitch and Matwallisuk's, he will not be issuing many more cheques. BUT, everyone out there, keep going - don't give up (queue another line for a song!).0
-
My cheque arrived today, posted yesterday first class by Chris, as he stated. Hopefully it won't bounce. Clearly going through the RapidSwitch host worked magic although I do wonder about any future claims for people now he no longer uses RapidSwitch?
I just have this feeling that this thread will run and run for as long as TPA is still running, jumping from host to host.0 -
REEESULT Biggirlsblouse! I knew you would if you went down the Rapidswitch route. Just sorry that they were only available for such a short time. How did you get on Johnstone1?0
-
I really hope that everyone else gets their money. Until I contacted RapidSwitch though, Chris' party line was that I'll get my refund after the 30 day period that he chooses. My worry is that everyone else now get this response and have to wait at least 30 days because his current Host is not as hot as RapidSwitch.
However, there is the encouragement that some of us have had refunds so fingers crossed for everyone else!0
