The Perfume Emporium have stolen my money

If TPE does appear via another host then I wonder how long it will take for this thread to be revived??? Can I stop myself from keeping an eye out for future developements? Perhaps I should get a life and stop my moral crusade;)
PS. I appear to have been refunded twice
And before anyone questions my morals, yes I have called my bank to check out what has happened with this apparent double-refund.
I think my bank may have processed a 'charge-back' to TPE for the money and at the same time 'Chris' processed my refund...... I'm waiting to hear back from my banks disputed payments dept.0 -
Blaming Matt Wallis isnt productive, he has done all he can to help and as he said its nothing to do with him really and the efforts he's made to help should be commended!
However all this talk about nobody doing anything wrong is troubleing me...i have seen no evidence of these packages ever being sent in the first place, so he's selling goods and taking money for something he has no intention to deliver. He may then follow this by sticking to his terms and condition and giving refunds after a very lengthy period of time but this still cant be legal as nothing was lost it never existed.
When i contacted him to say i hadnt recieved my delivery yet (this was just 5 days a supposed dispatch) and that I wanted a refund, he sent one back saying "I will now issue you with a refund in line with our terms and conditions" Nothing else no line about it being lost with royal mail, no apology nothing.....so what do i get a refund and my perfume?! Chances are after just 5 days my perfume could of turned up.............except for the fact it was never sent!
I really dont see this refund ever happening now.0 -
The same thing happened to me Johnstone.
- I ordered, nothing came
- Emailed to say no package arrived and he said give 15 days for Royal Mail
- Waited and still nothing, so ‘Chris’ asked if I wanted another package or a refund.
- I said just send me another one (foolish) as long as it wont cost me anything extra
- 2nd package didn’t arrive either
- Emailed saying I was unhappy and wanted a refund.
- Was told that a refund would be issued in accordance with terms
There was no ‘lets wait for 15 days for Royal Mail’. No ‘the first one may be on its why’. Just ‘ok then, I’ll give you a refund’
I don’t believe TPE sent either parcel.0 -
Yes, definitely more to this than just being slow at processing refunds, I dont think he has any perfume to sell and is just carrying this on in order to keep himself afloat.
What's annoying me is this is still going on, people could go on today and place new orders and theres nothing to stop him taking this money and carrying on this farce0 -

I think we all know that's the case Johnstone1 but the real question is how is it stopped?
People are getting their money back, eventually.....0 -

I think 'Chris' may have realised that people are now onto his scheme so it's more efficient for him to just say that he'll refund, eventually.0 -
Nice development!
I'm certainly glad that Matt has decided to drop TPE. A wise decision IMO. I'd also like to extend my apologies to Matt for user Warehouse. I just hope that Warehouse now realises Matt's actual place in all this (See Kuffdam73's posts).
At one point early in my saga, I too felt a bit disgruntled at Matt (completely unjustified) but this was simply down to frustration that although Chris was staying within his terms it was obvious (to me anyway) that he wasn't being truthful. Just stringing out a delay on peoples hard earned money. This was the reason I thought Matt should cut ties, but make no mistake, he did not have any obligation to do so. I was only offering my opinion.
If you think about it, if Chris was staying within his terms and conditions then he would probably feel angry at Matt for saying things in this thread and also for contacting him frequently about refunds that he was 'sneakily' but perhaps lawfully? (I just don't know) processing. The stuff about whether he is or isn't sending out items is heresay. We all know he isn't but we can't singly prove it. Please remember that Chris is/was Matt's client not the other way round. It felt like I was sticking up for Chris there, gave me the Heebie Jeebie's. Sorry
My advice to anyone who has ordered and is awaiting a refund is this, if your 30 days notice from your official request for a refund falls before 17th August 2009 then report to Matt's abuse address as your 30 days are up(posted a few times in this thread).
For anyone who has ordered and is at any stage in the process. I would be officially requesting a refund today and crossing your fingers. Remember, you can request your refund at any time! This mean if you ordered last night and you don't want to take a chance, E-mail today and say that you want a refund. If the product arrives (doubtful) you will have to send it back in the condition it arrived. This will stop you waiting 50 days minimum (5 for initial delivery and 15 if you are like me, gullable enough to wait for the Royal Mail Investigation, even Columbo couldn't solve that one! before 'officially' requesting a refund).
It does not matter when you ordered your perfume, the 30 days will not begin until you request the refund. To be honest I'm not convinced that this is the actual reading of the terms outlined in the Distance Selling Reg's but this is how Chris is operating them, I would have thought the 30 days run from the beginning of the 'Contract'.
Matt - Sorry again how this developed. If I were you I wouldn't post back on here, not because of Warehouse but because it will be very difficult to break ties. Even after the 17th comes and goes. I think we all know where this is all heading.
Again, good luck to all.

Wow, the reaction is surprising to me. I'm the only person uncomfortable with Matt's stance on this whole thing and dared to say so. Simple as that. I didn't mean to upset anyone, I thought some of you might appreciate another angle on this. I'd be disappointed if Matt stopped posting because 1 person disagreed about hosting this site. I'm more than happy to apologise to Matt, he's obviously worked/working hard to help people in this thread, and for that is to be commended, so I'm sorry Matt. Please come back. You're welcome to put me right.
The site is a scam. It's so obvious now it hurts. What has someone got to do to be closed down? In a few seconds this site could be pulled, then nobody would even need help to get refunds. Do the right thing matt and pull the plug, or tell me why you can't. Please?Pants0 -
Trading standards are the only ones that have this power, Matt can't stop him trading unfortunatly.
I would have thought that when trading standards looked into them they would have demanded proof that items were sent to customers and looked into his claims with Royal Mail not just checked out the slow refund situation.
I guess we all just have to keep reporting it?!0 -
He probably cant because it may breach the contract that he has with his client (TPE) and this could end up with the client taking legal action I presume.0
