They will simply get their local courier to come and pick the camera up, that's what they offered to do for me when I phoned last night (but it's easier for me to go to the post office and send it back myself) so I doubt there is any chance of you being able to keep the camera as unsolicited goods.

Actually, the Unsolicited Goods Act now states that any unsolicited goods become your property as soon as you receive them.

If they send the wrong camera (especially in the knowledge that it is the wrong camera) I would suggest that amounts to unsolicited goods and you can keep the good upon receipt.

I received a parcel from Empire today - containing a really horrible 24 piece dinner set & a catalogue.
    No sign of the cameras.
However, there was a despatch note and the cameras were listed on there, but it said they would come when they are in stock.
They were listed at full price though, with no £15 discount.
Guess I'm going to have to get in the telephone queue system in the morning to cancel the order.

    Hi All

If, like me, you did not have a customer reference number to enable you to register on the Empire Direct site and see your current account status, well now you can.

I was so annoyed with this fiasco that I clicked the unsubscribe option on their latest e-mail, which......wait for it......opened up another page displaying the customer reference number.

This can then be used to register and you will see your account details, orders, returns, etc.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Mick

    Great tip - thanks!

2MP camera arrived today with t-shirt for my lad and free TV!! It actually works. All for £13.00!!!!
Disappointed that I did not get the bargan I was hoping for, but I will probably keep the camera for my daughter who is off on school trips soon, would be ideal for her. Not sure its worth the hassle of arranging to send back and chasing refunds. One to put down to experience I think. :undecided

Just received junk email from them despite correctly ticking all the correct boxes including the trick one

Got to give this outfit 100% for cheek. Don't think I've ever seen an offer worded like this. Love the caveated "up to almost" bit. Anyway don't think I'll be bothering.

"Mr rustyjames this offer is too good to miss"

    "up to almost 22.5%* Off!"

And then in the tiniest font at the bottom:

    * Savings of up to almost 22.5% are made up of 10% immediate discount plus your 12.5% commission in catalogue goods. Commission can be taken as 10% Cash or 12.5% in Catalogue goods. Please note that you are eligible for Cashback / Commission once you have made payments on your account totalling £100 (excluding total cover payments).

I've also got the TV and net curtain. They show as FREE on the invoice.

Does anyone know for definite whether the "Out of stock" against the camera means they will continue to try and deliver it some time in the future, or if that is a final statement. Just wondering as it shows the full price against it. Might just try and cancel it now to avoid any hassle in the future.

I telephoned Empire yesterday, asking to be taken off their mailing lists and to ahve any account deleted, unfortunately at 1st you have to put up with an automated system, but if you stay quiet every time the robot asks a question you do eventually get put through to an operator. I was very lucky and had a lovely adviser, I just asked to be removed, she said certainly, any particular reason why? and I repliied, that I had ordered the 3MP camera for £20 that went t*ts up!! She laughed and agreed that they had made major mistake.
aperently I will be removed within 12 days, and to throw away any rubbish sent thru post. Suppose its quicker than 28 days waiting to be unsubscribed!
I don't suppose they will be that bothered, as they still have me as a customer for Vertbaudet and La redoute, ( although I only order, when I get money off vouchers and apply them when there is a sale on!!) same company, probably same callcentre!
if you cant have what you want, be grateful for what you have :T

    Pickle number 3 arrived 24th december 2007 :A
