  • i didnt think it was recommended to use them on your hair everyday ?? hence the poor texture, lack of shine on your hair for continued use ? I use my GHD's purely on weekends and posh occasions !! havnt got the time during the week with the kids. Hubby got them on ebay, but it took ages as he kept forgetting to check his bids and lost out.

    Hi girlies :D

I've got cheap straighteners and I have to say they're !!!!!!! I borrowed my friends GHD's last night and gave them the ultimate test. Washed my hair, took it out of the towel and did absolutely nothing with it....let it dry, no combing..went to bed with it damp and woke up this morning with HUGE curly/wavy/frizzy hair. It was straight in about 5 mins

I've just ordered some (the big ones for thick hair) from HQHair thru Greasy Palm (3.5% cash back) using promotional code SKINSAVER (for 10% discount) and my order came to £80.35 incl postage (after reading another post on I wanna buy it/do it forum)

I have to say, I wouldn't like to use them every day - I only wash my hair twice a week so would only use them then.

I wouldn't be without my GHDs - I've had mine over 4 years now - although not the same pair - Jemella after sales service is fab! I used to have really short hair, pre-GHDs, but the longer I have had them, the longer my hair has got. Desperate for the salon ones (big), so dropping heavy hints to Mr Frizz for Christmas. :D

I use mine at least everyday - if not more on damp wet days!! Totally addicted!

i need some hair strighteners, never had any before but wondered if the glass ones by babyliss were any good. does anyone have these. I have long hair but i don't think they do the wide ones anymore. would the slim ones be ok. also i would probably only use them once a week, would i need to to put anything on my hair to protect it. any advice appreciated. :)

I have ghds miacat, and have very thick, chest length hair. I use them everyday, sometimes more and would not be without them. I use a product called Tigi Fashionista for protecting my hair, which I put on before blow-drying and then after straightening I put serum on the ends, and I smooth out from my parting with whatever is left in my palms (only use the teeniest amount otherwise looks greasy) - Asdas own brand is just as good as the expensive ones!

No need to apologise miacat!! :D I don't know about the glass ones I'm afraid - and I am very biased towards ghds. They retail around £77 - but I think they are worth it - I've had mine 4 years now. I'll find the thread and post back.

I got the wide Babyliss glass ones and they're great - much quicker than my old ceramic ones, seem to get hotter, and do give great results. Prior to this I'd had a cheap pair of ceramics which just seemed to be damaging my hair.

Shame they don't make the wide ones any more as it'll take longer with slimline. But my hair is about chest length, and whole head with the wide ones only takes about 15 minutes (my hair is slightly wavy to start with).

I get Paul Mitchell Heat Seal spray from my hairdressers. It's one you spray on wet hair, and it protects from all heat styling (blow drying, straightening etc) and also has slight hold, which is activated by heat. Another good one is VO5 Miracle Mist (available on the high street) which is great with straighteners.
