Replace the Dect phone temporarily with a wired phone. Connect to internet. Operate phone. If it still breaks the ADSL line then it's nothing to do with wireless interference from Dect. My money is still on a filter problem or internal wiring fault, as there's no problem with the ADSL when the phone is not being used.

... or try wired. The O2Box comes with a patch cable iirc and most laptops made since the flood have an ethernet port.

It is not possible to 'double filter' any router. An ADSL filter has no effect on the broadband signal whatsoever, only telephony devices that are connected to an ADSL enabled line via a filter have the ADSL frequencies filtered out to prevent interference

Didn't mean double filtering the router, brainfart time there. Double filtering whatever else is plugged in is what i meant.

What a stupid suggestion! Do you know what channels are actually in use in the OP's location?

I can't see how double filtering of devices could possibly improve broadband performance. One good quality filter for all telephony devices is the best approach. e.g. a master socket filter for the whole property.

I'll agree on that one although the idea of double filtering is very widespread. I doubt it would help the broadband but if a poor quality filter was being used and the phone was especially sensitive to the RF interference which to it the router signal represents adding additional filtering would maybe help the phone.

Like I said, it doesn't make sense to me but plenty of people seem to think it works well.

I guess if you use two crappy filters (first generation from an old adsl install, for instance...) instead of one good quality one it makes sense, since the original filters only needed to meet the specifications for attenuating the frequencies of the technology at the time, bog standard ADSL.

I agree that an adslnation master socket faceplate is by far the best way to go here. The OP will probably find their speed increases if they use a better quality filter like that, as an added bonus.

ADSL filters are low pass. They actually work better the higher the frequency so older filters are fine for ADSL2+

Crikey! we've got single filters, double filters, faceplates hanging off, bell wires hanging off, old filters, new filters, wired phones, dect phones... I think the OP has got buried in his living room
