    Hi Swinstie,

thanks for popping in. I haven't been on line much recently. I don't really know why. Work has been really busy - I missed quite a lot of work over the last few months so have been playing catch up.

OH and I have decided to go ahead with the wedding. It means that there will be lots of running around to get everything done at short notice. Thankfully I had done a lot of the research before mum got sick and most of the suppliers have been wonderful. It's going to be such an emotional day but the one thing I realize throuh everything was that I wanted to marry my OH as he had been wonderful through everything.

I have been thinking about how I'll deal with the finances once I am debt free. Over the next couple of months I will use money that I would have put towards debt to pay for wedding related things. After that, I will start putting money towards long-term savings so that I have a safety net and towards updating the flat - I really need new windows; bathroom and kitchen. Althoght
I am not sure whether I should bother spending thousands towards the flat when OH and I may want to move to a house.

I've also decided that money that I will use the rent from my lodger to make over payments on my mortgage. It'll be nice to see that amount come down. I've been very lucky and have benefitted from the low interest rates as my tracker is .74% above the bank of England base!

It's nice to be able to think a financial future without debt. I still really need to get to grips with budgets, meal planning and all sorts of money saving things that I haven't really learned about. I don't know how OH and I are going to manage joint finances. He hasn't had many responsibilities financially. I know he covers finances for his parents as he lives there.

I didn't mean to write loads. Hope you are all okay. I'll have to catch up with diaries over the weekend.

    Hi Everyone,

It looks like I'm back to posting once a week. I'll try and get that back into check.

It's been a really hard weekend for me emotionally for all sorts of reasons. I am finding the wedding planning a bit stressful and today was always going to be hard. Dad and I went to a family party today and I struggled a few times especially as so many people come by to ask how we are doing and to pay their respects.

I read a post on Hypno's diary that seemed quite apt - the weekend gives you time to think. That does seem to be the case with me.

I am trying to get back to trying to get myself organised and build in good useful routines into my day. I started to this last year and set myself daily/weekly goals to achieve that I would tick off. I think I will start at a few basics and work into adding a few more in.

I have following the real flylady. I do a little but I have lots to do. What's great is that my core areas get cleared every week but I really do need to get my bedroom cleared out so that there is some space in it when OH moves in properly.

One new rule is that I must be in bed by 11pm and out of bed with a bit more time than just enough to get out the door.

Which means I must get off line. I'll pop back with a mid-week update.

    urg x x

    Ten minutes til bedtime urg!

Was thinking of you today, for me it's Father's Day that makes me sad but it will get easier. Getting into a routine is good, too much time on your hands = lots of thinking time, sometimes that can be good but can also stop us from moving on with our lives. Night night, get a good sleep x

I thought I'd pop in with my mid-week update. I'm on a day off today but am awake annoyingly early. OH and I are meeting our dad's for lunch and he and I are going ring shopping.

I'd set myself a couple of goals at the start of the week:
    • To have three NSD's a month
    • To do my daily scratchies

I have managed to have 1 NSD this week and should manage the other two by Sunday. I have also been doing scratchies.

Wedding planning is going full steam ahead and the invites should be ready to send at the weekend.

I am very lucky as my parents had money set aside for my wedding and we have been using this. Although Dad is paying for the main things, we will be paying for all the little things that we need to buy. We are trying to keep things simple but it all adds up. I will be able to use money I had put towards debt repayments from next month when I become debt free but I think we are still going to have to use the CCs for soe things so I imagine I'll be back to paying off wedding debt before I can start saving. I'll have to start looking for 0% BT deals.

One thing that'll make You laugh - OH managed to get a market research job yesterday and they overbooked so he got £45 for just turning up! As soon as he got home I relieved him of the cash so we can use it towards the wedding. We have a luxury that we are going to use MSE ways to pay for. This is worth £500.

I am going to get up soon and make a few calls.

    Have a good day.
