It's a SL3 phone and can be unlocked only if paid for, as there are no free remote codes. Contact a pro unlocker/market stall or your network provider

If code appears, it means that the phone is unlocked already, or the network is not Tesco. Can you make & receive calls

I can send text messages fine, though I haven't tried calling I assume it's the same. I got the phone with a Tesco sim in it that works, but I've tried it with a vodaphone and and orange sim instead and both give a 'sim not valid' message. It's not the sim cards that are faulty because they both work fine in other phones. I'm pretty sure it was always Tesco but if the phone started on one network and then was switched to Tesco would it make a difference?
