He just bought it from ebay and he has a virgin sim card in it (but wants it on o2) but on the screen says Tmobile so I am unsure whether that means it is locked to virgin or Tmobile. I am sure that you guys in the know will understand.

Shame that one didn't work, it says sim card registration failed. Then you press quit and it allows you to set time date etc... then it comes on as if it is OK but there is no network coverage with his o2 card in and is fine with the virgin one in.
Any ideas please.

Check some other networks in your phone it may be unlocked already if code error is coming up. Can you make & receive calls on Virgin? The two codes I have given you are for 02 & Virgin, so if code error is coming on Virgin it must be unlocked already.

DCT4+ phone I’m afraid, there are no free remote codes, but your network provider/market stall, or a pro unlocker can help here. There are also remote codes that you can obtain from the web on certain networks, but very expensive.

Yeah have tried his o2 card but no joy. Still says 'sim card registration failed' and still says tmobile on the screen with no signal at all. Yet with the virgin card it works. Pain.

The phone now could be hardlocked as to many codes have been tried 3 or 5 in some cases. The only way now is to get it unlocked by a pro/market stall as it needs direct unlocking.
