Thanks for all your suggestions - plenty of variety to try out.
I've got 1/2 a chicken left in fridge, so a couple of the chicken ones will be first on the agenda.
Rosie - we love mince & potato plate pie - to make, line an overproof plate with pastry ( I sometimes add some cheese to mine).
Put a layer of cold mince (I usually add onions, celery and diced carrot - cook until nearly all liquid has evaported then add gravy to thicken, you want a firm mix not sloppy) then put cold sliced cooked potatoes on top, season to taste, then pastry lid on top. Seal and pop in oven.0 -
Thank you so much Emiliah. That sounds lovely. I have never tried it with potatoes in, but I suppose you could get away with less meat that way. Oh, can't wait to get some beef next week when i get my Feb grocery money!!!!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

My very favourite is sausage and onion plate pie * drools*
It tastes better cold and i use MrM`s lincolnshire sausagemeat for this, i can easily get two pies out of one pack. You could add some stuffing mix for a bit of variety but watch your waistline. It also freezes really well raw or cooked.

Hope you enjoy it Rosie
Thanks sunnyday - going shopping next week and usually get some lovely pork sausages from butcher so will definitely be trying this - as you say some things taste just as nice, if not nicer, cold.
I'm afraid there's not a lot of hope for my waistline:o0 -
