If i was going to make a pie I would need to use the oven anyway to cook the chips so sounds like a waste of energy. Can't eat my pies without any chips.I hate migraines.0

5-8 minutes! That is tempting...
I think we should place a ban on mentioning gadgets, this is supposed to be about saving money..... although could I justify it by saying that when we have leftovers, I'll just make some pastry and put it into pies to freeze? Would be a quick and easy way of using up fruit thats past it's best for puddings that can be frozen as well, so its really a way to reduce wastage....0 -
I've got 2 pie makers.
One off freecycle and another from the car boot.
What I do is when I've got pastry left from making big pies etc cooked in the oven I cut circles out (tops & bottoms) and stick them in the freezer. Then if there's ever a little bit of stew/mince/curry etc left from dinner I make a few pies for lunch the next day, the nicest pies I ever made was with leftover liver, bacon, onions & gravy. The frozen pastry circles only take about 30mins or so to defrost.
Edit: apparently they're quite popular in Australia.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

I love my pie maker. I batch cook about 10 at a time and then freeze them.
Then when i have little time to cook fully i reheat them and serve with mixed veg and gravy - yummy!!
I know some dont think gadgets are very OS but for me its all baby steps. I would never of thought i would be making my own pies but now i do. I just need to get into the habbit of making my own bread now but like i said, for me its all baby steps.
