Pie Fillings

Ive managed to purchase a new pie maker off ebay and really want to use it to the max, so im looking for both sweet and savoury fillings.

I cant wait to try a lamb and mint sauce filling, whats your favourite?

Any recipes and ideas would be fantastic and if its using cheap cuts of meat and bargain buys all the better as Im on a budget.

Many thanks

  • I am not too sure what a pie maker is but I quite often put left over roast dinner into a pie, add some gravy and put the lid on. It goes down well in this house

Not very OS using a pie maker, but just my opinion.

Sometimes it makes me laugh what others constitutes as old school on this board.

filling as I said mushroom, onion, cornbeef and put it in. The pie maker

Thanks Julie;) I make pies like that too, own filling, own pastry then I put them in a pie plate or a bun tin for little ones and bake in the oven. Or even easier- I just cut out a circle of pastry using a side plate and make pasties, great for lunch boxes.

Have fun with your new gadget:)

I think the fact the op makes her own pies is pretty much in the spirit of os, and the fact that she uses a machine to help her seems neither here nor there to me:confused:. Surely its up to everyone who enjoys this board to interpret os as they wish...there does sometimes seem to be a " more os that thou" attitude which i always find unhelpful when this board is about helping and encouraging each other.

I think corned beef, onion and mushroom pies sound nomnomom...

Now im just off down the river to do my laundry.....;)
