If I had the money - great. But I don't and that's depressing. I didn't like the printed wallpaper or the art deco theme but that's jut my taste. I did however like the idea of the luxurious bathroom - if only all houses were built with bathrooms that size!!!! And to think that it's not generally only men that like to read whilst on the loo (fiance has converted me......) - even well off people with expensive tastes like Kirstie like to do it!!!!!!:rotfl:

What a lot of baloney that programme is - as if any of us has the time to take lessons in stained window-making, candle-making, making this and making that and at the same time going to all the nice and quirky markets and antiques warehouses, as if we did not have a home to run and family to feed - not to speak of a job to do (those of us who do work other than homemaking that is).

And on top of that, we would need to have a basic wreck of a country cottage to make up, money to hire the builders, decorators, electricians, plumbers etc etc etc...

IMHO this programme is just a bit of property-!!!!!! really!

She is a useless waste of space (and she takes up quite a lot of space, at that).

i didnt like the show either but kept it on the box for partner to watch at the weekend. i cant stand magazines in the loo as we just dont have enough space but as im decorating cloakroom and en suite i am now going to have to give in to partners idea that its nice - he spends forever in there reading when i need help with chores :rotfl:so i can hunt the house and garage for a small perfectly shaped basket for downstairs but our ensuite is a different matter as its titchy and no floor space at all. i will now need to find a cheap wall fitted newspaper rack for boyfriends magazines now!! as he has been asking for ages and i keep saying no :D

as for candles in teacups my favourite thing for tables but i have now officially gone off of them! i can honestly say i didnt like anything she did to her bathrooms tonight. i would have liked to see more of the shower room to see if there was something i liked somewhere! and the prices were just insane if you ask me - i thought the point of the show was thrifty shopping getting things from the UK. but i am mistaken  now if only i could have a bedroom where i could fit in a chair let alone in a bathroom:rotfl:

I'm in now in awe of her tbh :o- I mean, she bought a house and managed to pitch, to a cash-strapped tv company, the idea of handmade and artisan made 'additions' to her home  - and has a one-off no one else will repeat - and got paid for it into the bargain. - So from her point of view a massive saving...:money:and she didn't even stick her handmade paper up herself - we've yet to see her in overalls. And surely she should have worn safety goggles and gloves when cutting glass?
Shame we can't all jump on THAT bandwagon:p
(please note this is definitely tongue-in-cheek!)

Caterina - you're spot on! I have been wondering if you were watching!

OK I'm still cynical and think its a highly misplaced notion of 'trift' to spend £200 on shelves, and its basically a very extended advert for her holiday home buiness.

However if it encourages people to reuse stuff and invest in antiques and so rather than buying yet more mountains of disposable ikea tat then no bad thing. And I might just have a go at teacup candles for my new shabby chic dining room!

    Hello Snowy Owl!

I'm SnowyOwl too, but definitely not you! I spend most of my MSE time on the Old Style forum. Gosh, is this going to get confusing??

I might as well. I have a small collection of odd teacups and this seems quite a nice use for them.
