She wasn't daft when she decided to make the programme. Buy a house, get paid by a production company to make the show and come out laughing at the end when you can get 2-3k to let it. Credit crunch? Not in Kirsties world.April £5 a day challenge- £15.05/£1500

I really would love a go at pottery. But she did gloss over details - I would love to know what to look for in a sewing machine and how to use it. And it does seem to defeat the purpose to pay people to do the work for you!
I liked what Cath Kidston said about just having what you like and not minding what other people think.
My local Adult ed run a course titled 'getting to know your sewing machine'!! Over two days the tutor showed us how to (very basically) maintain and clean the machine, use different stitches, applique, change needles etc. Very useful, at the start of the first day I can say I was nervous having never used a sewing machine before. By the end of the course I was totally inspired and have since made several costumes for DS, altered trousers and I am about to embark on curtain, cushion making and recovering old sofas etc.
See if the council are running something similar in your area. It was the best £20 (ish) I have spent in a long time.

have to say the lampshade making looked interesting...not that I would have 50 lamps in one room though...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

I made candles in cups for my s-i-l's Christmas present and it was quite economical, even with buying colour and scent over the Internest (I did dark brown coffee scented wax in Ikea coffee cups which happen to be a great colour for their dining room).
Apart from that, I found some of Kirsties ideas interesting, but not low budget at all!0 -
ooh Seakay they sound really good...
I think we all need to remember that Kirstie IS doing this on a budget, but, Jim, not a budget as WE know it LOL

I was really inspired by the lampshade making, immediately went on a search and couldn't find a course anywhere north of Birmingham
I guess a 'soft furnishings' course would cover it, but I wanted a lampshade only course, as I can make other soft furnishings.
I do agree with you all, the programme is hardly budget conscious although I guess in Kirsty's world it is!!2025 - Declutter to Move House

She doesn't have researchers and creatives to deal with all the, oh, work, then? You surprise me...0
