some of us can't help being in there for a while

Prunes will help, though. Honest. It's really, really bad for you to linger too long. Definitely not a hobby to be encouraged, and I love reading!!

Did anyone watch it last night?

Hubby surprised me. After watching the bit about the patchwork quilt, we were discussing how they're made when he said "Why don't we make one together? We can sit here in the evenings, both stitching hexagons together."

Of course, I agreed! I actually have a bag of patchwork squares that I rescued from a charity shop, so that will save time on having to cut them out. Should be an interesting project. It's not often your hubby offers to do something *girly*! :rotfl:

I only saw part of it last night. I have to admit that the amounts of money she seems to spend even though she says that she is doing it as cheaply as possible is amazing. On the first progrma she made a cushion and declared that it would cost £50 in London, so that's how much she'd saved !

It's like a different world. You could buy enough material to make cushions AND bedding for your whole house for £50, lol.

She wasn't daft when she decided to make the programme. Buy a house, get paid by a production company to make the show and come out laughing at the end when you can get 2-3k to let it. Credit crunch? Not in Kirsties world.

Uhhmmm...did anyone see in the news that her house is actually right next to a BDSM 'sanctuary'? The owner regularly takes her slave for walks to the post office on his lead. That'll go down well with families holidaying there.

Allsop is just like a chameleon....she has morphed into another role to fit with the current housing market to save her own skin and keep generating money for herself.

I cant say i find her or her pal Phil that appealing with their dribbling estuary English accents and talk of professionals and power showers.

I have to admit that I love it for the most part. I like lots of her taste, but haven't liked some of the detailing. I have made the cushions and am going to have a go with candles.

however... this might all be because we have taken on a simiar project- big house needing gutting etc.

I don't mind her- it is amusing seeing her try some of these things.

Is it a bad thing to use your skills to find yourself another job and so be able to support yourself and your family?

You are right thriftlady, it is very enterprising of her. I quite enjoy the program but do think she spends an enormous amount on stuff that I'm sure she could get cheaper elsewhere.

I also find the skip diving questionable. Are we to believe she just happened to be driving past a goodie laden skip with a full camera crew in the car????

I think the house looks good though. My house could probably look better if I had her budget.

I think a more accurate name for her attitude to DIY is 'GALMI' - aka -'get a little man in'

Haha ok well I'm being gung-ho about it!

I was amazed that one minute she was buying an American Quilt for £250, then the next minute digging through a skip! My DH nearly choked on his coffee when she paid £14 for that piece of green fabric...
