    Ok so it does turn out to be a low value car which I wasn't aware of at the time of my suggestion.

    The car supermarkets tend to have "Financial Advisers" that they insist you sit in front of as they want to get as much money in additional services on top of the car sale as possible.
    Absolutely right.This became apparent after 15 minutes when he tried to sell me an extended warranty, and even a coating to protect the bodywork.
    With hindsight I should have got up and walked away telling the salesman the deal was off, and I would be going elsewhere.Incidentally this was a main dealer for the make of car.

    If they sold you a warranty or Gap cover you can get cover for a fraction of the price on the internet (There are advice forums on MSW). If you are within 14 days of purchase you can normally cancel the policies without charge

    just tick the boxes on the forms saying you dont want 3rd party mail.
    i keep a shredder by the post, anything i dont want is gone. simple!
    Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
    current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
    Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

    new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,000
