I think Travelodge have dealt with this very badly. It is actually quite shocking they can 'ring fence' hundreds of pounds and nothing is being done about it. Not so much as an apology

Presumably those people who will now bounce a direct debit due to TL ring-fencing their money, could have their credit score affected and it could also lead to other problems.

I assume if people are able to organise additional facilities with their bank, this will not be free.

TL will have to sell all their rooms at £9 in the future as nobody will want to touch them with a bargepole after this.

Cor - I tried on Thursday and no luck. Then Fri night got 3 nights at london travelodge for £9 a night (second weekend in September). Really chuffed -no problems at all - even booked the breakfast as it was 20% off and the whole 3 nights with breakfast for 2 people is £65 - would normally pay that for 1 night without breakfast!!!

Always stay in travelodge and have never had any problems. You get what you pay for and at £9 a night thou shalt be grateful!!!!

But that's not what people are saying - they are trying to book but TL are taking numerous booking fees and not supplying the room! Worse, they have no idea this has happened till they contact their bank!

I've had many years of hassle free TL breaks, but when it goes wrong, boy does it go wrong - and TL have very little in place to reassure or help the 'victims'.

It's a technological blip that needs to be addressed urgently, as people have been relating these stories for some time now.

Agreed. I was lucky really - it didn't crash on me and went through with no problems. I would not be happy with all this ring fencing money and charges.

    Absolutely.

If I had got what I tried to book then fine. I appreciate that £9 for a room is a bargain.....BUT and it is a big BUT.................

Travelodge know that their is massive demnad for these rooms.

They have not put anything in place to cope with this demand as far as their servers are concerned.

Their servers fail AFTER they have ring-fenced your money.

They are putting the finances of families under strain, and almost by definition, the people who are trying to book a bargain break could well be the people who have the least funds available.

If you managed to get a £9 room then well done, but I don't care how cheap their rooms are.....I refuse to deal with a company that have such disdain for their potential customer base.

I will NEVER use them again however cheap their rooms are! I have paid full price for their rooms in the past for stays after nights out in city centres and for business travel etc.......BUT never will they get another penny from me and I will make sure I spread the word as much as I can. AVOID TRAVELODGE AT ALL COSTS!!!! EVEN AT £9!!!!

If anyone who has had problems used a Visa Credit Card or Visa Debit Card transactions then there should be a facility for the customer to use the chargeback service to reclaim their cash.
