Well never again will I try and book a cheap room with Travelodge. I don't like them at the best of times, but thought at £9 that you can't go wrong.

I tried time and time again to book some rooms, through the main site and through the mobile site and it always fell over at the payment stage.

I now find that Travelodge / my bank have 'ring fenced' £720 in my current account. £72 each time their server failed.

I have to wait up to five days for my money to be avaialble to me again.

Shame that means I have no available funds in my account now until that happens.

I did manamge to book 2 rooms for 2 nights in one travelodge...and now I have realised...down to my own stupid fault...that I have booked the wrong month, so my nights are weekdays not weekends, so I cant use them anyway!!!!
    Doh!

So I now have paid £36 for 2 rooms I cannot use and travelodge / my bank have taken £720 away from me for 5 days!!!

    What a bargain!!!! lol :rotfl:

I am so peeved. The stupid site yesterday would not let me book two nights at Devizes I had to keep going back and forth trying to book two nights. I finally managed to book it and got confirmation, but had not realised until looking at the confirmation page that it had added a one night stay to the trip also. So it had booked a one night stay and a two night stay. I rang customer services and rather that believing me in the fact that I had technical problems the customer service rep basically said I must have got something wrong. I said this was unfair as it was his word against mine!I really had such problems making the booking for two nights because on the saver page it showed Thursday and Friday as £9 rooms. I clicked on Friday then it said it would be something like £32 not £9. Then when I finally convinced the site I needed two nights it STILL came up with 1 when I got near confirming the booking. So when it finally went through I was just so pleased that I did not look at the fact it had kept the one night booking there and booked that also!

The customer services rep did offer me some e vouchers but they only last 6 months and I would rather have the money credited back considering all the bother. So am going to write a recorded letter and hopefully get some money back. When I mentioned I know lots of people have had problems he did not know what I was on about and said he has not heard there were lots of problems with double bookings. He even asked which forum I had learnt this and I told him...dont think it meant much tho!

    The customer is ALWAYS right!

    I stand corrected.

I didnt think any changes were allowed to saver rates. Cancellation is not allowed, but a change of date is subject to a £5 charge.

Dont know if this is a new t and c as I lost about £70 a few years ago because I put the wrong date in.

I'm not sure if it is new or not, it is still quite a narrow margin for correction as it has to be same rate which is a bit of a pain now as pretty much all the availability at that rate is gone! Dp suggested I go down that night myself for a wander round the museums and shops in peace, think I might do that.

It is booked in his name though, anyone had any luck changing that?

We have stayed many times this year on a past £9 offer and never once been asked for booking email, credit card or confirmation of who we were so perhaps no need to change name?

Do you mean you can only change the date to the current price the new date is available? I knew they would get you somehow:confused:.

As another poster has said dont worry about the name change it is not an issue, In my experience

Just found this on MSE so please check your account!

    Please read re: Travelodge! Urgent!
Urgent! - We've been trying all day to book rooms with travelodge, with no luck, as has my bil. He has just phoned and they have taken over £700 from his account, and that's without having any bookings confirmed by them , they kept saying booking not complete! It's all showing as 'pending' at the mo, so you'll need to check your available balance and maybe phone your bank rather than your statements though. They have also had £200 from our credit card, and £125 on our debit card where we have repeatedly tried to book, so PLEASE check your accounts ASAP!

We had a similar problem, but not lost as much as you have! We have lost £360 through 9 attempted bookings all came up 'your transaction has not completed' after taking my debit card details. It was'nt until I tried to book again last night that when it came up as card declined, I panicked and found out what had happened. I've been onto my bank and Travelodge, travelodge say 5 days to getting money back, bank say 10 days!! My bank said if Travelodge faxed a letter to say they had no intention of claiming my money from their holding a/c that my bank would put the money back into my a/c asap. Travelodge werent keen on this when I suggested it, but they have emailed customer services again (on top of the 3 emails I have sent, 2 of which Ive had replies for) and Im hoping for a quick response on monday. I have also contacted Citizens advice bureau, as both bank and travelodge say they arent responsible for refunding whatever bank charges we get, a) for making us go over our overdraft limit, and b) for the charges we will get as we have a few direct debits due out in next few days. I sent a letter recorded delivery to travelodge tonight, so Im hoping to have the money credited soon, and to find out about the bank charges. Never booking travelodge online every again, the worry made me sick last night.
