What would happen (apart from the obvious) if you managed to get the police to attend, then took their radio from them, demanding £90 to have it back? I see no difference in law.0

Vigilante group anyone?
I haven't been back since my run in with them a few months ago but it still rankles.
I have thought about buying the cheapest car possible and parking it in their car park and having a laugh at them when they threaten to tow it away etc. Maybe while wearing some form of fancy dress or something.
I might need someone to tow my car up there though!Once a BLUE, always a BLUE!0 -
I wonder if someone couldn't accidentally lose 500 tons of rubble at the entrance to this notorious car park......The man without a signature.0

If a large truck broke down across the entrance, I wonder if they would attempt to clamp it, thereby showing their extreme muppetry? Is there a wheel clamp big enough to clamp a Scania?0

Is there a wheel clamp big enough to clamp a Scania? My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Would something like this do the trick?
That'll do it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
However if they did clamp it, no more victims could get in the carpark to be fleeced. Bet they would have to scrounge one of those from the local Plant Hire firm, aren't they to prevent the theft of plant equipment like a JCB from a site?0 -

Nah, a tank is better :rotfl:
Imagine them trying to clamp the tank or even trying to tow it away0 -
I too wish I had been aware of this sooner - clamped for not parking within a bay when my wheel was on the white line, despite the fact that there was no bay at the side of me - I offered to pay the ten pound which was the maximum they could have made from one space in four hours - the guy was intimidating rude and vulgar in his attitude and behavior towards me. I was charged ninety pounds, I was told their card machine wasn't working (most likely because they're crooks and don't have one) the local pubs cash machine was out of cash and so I had to walk over a mile to the only other machine in the village. Leaving my car in the car park in fear that they would tow it away.
They had clamped 7 cars - thats 630 quid. Two cars had been clamped because their tickets appeared to have expired. when they explained this was because the pay and display machines clock had not been adjusted the guy reset it in front of us all and laughed saying that it was right now!
I was also told by a colleague today that her mum had used the car park - asked the guy as she left if she was okay as she was 'tight' in the space, he assured her she was - then when she returned he'd clamped her anyway!
I've looked at numerous forums and this seems to be all too common, crazy reasons like tickets being displayed on dash boards instead of stuck to a window - and the complaints forms say they are allowed to charge a 'reasonable fee' for release of the clamp - i can't see how the costs incurred amount to ninety pounds.
It's bullying tactics and I'm astonished the law can allow them to act in this way - we called the local police officer who was clearly used to this happening time and time again. He was very polite and acomadating - but the upshot was there was NOTHING we could do but pay the fine!
I am now going to contact Look North and Calandar in the hope that they will cover the story and warn visitors to Haworth as the christmas weekend events approach. I love Haworth but this incident has certainly put me off visiting - as previous posts have suggested the traders and locals of the village could act against such a violation occurring so regularly within their community.
ID URGE ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS FALLEN VICTIM TO THIS TO CONTACT LOOK NORTH AND CALENDAR - THE MORE COMPLAINT THEY GET THE MORE LIKELY THEY ARE TO COVER IT.0 -

So bad they get a mention on Haworth's wiki page :-
EconomyTourism accounts for much of the local seasonal trade, with the major attractions being the steam railway and the Brontë parsonage.
Visitors are said to have been driven away due to the behaviour of a car clamper at the Changegate car park in Haworth. The car-clamping firm Carstoppers, who patrols the Changegate car park, was given the '!!!!!! Turpin' award by the RAC, for being the modern day equivalent of a highway robber. Complaints have been reported and motorists have been urged to park elsewhere.
Amazed the local Council and / or Trading Standards are not all over these cucking funts.0
