From Bronte website. However they have one thing wrong Changegate cant fine you.

There are 3 main car parks in Haworth, all pay and display. The nearest is on West Lane adjacent to the Brontë Parsonage Museum. This also has public WCs. A large car park with facilities for coaches is available on Sun Street. Both these are owned and operated by Bradford Metropolitan District Council; please note their terms and conditions.
The Changegate car park (opposite Brontë Weaving Shed/Edinburgh Woollen Mill) is privately owned and operates a strict policy. To ensure you do not get fined, follow their terms and conditions to the letter.

Can Ted Evans do anything if you do not pay the "penalty"?

He cannot get details from DVLA, he cannot rely on POFA, he cannot clamp your car, it seems that he is bronted.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

What they do is try and intimidate people into paying before they leave, unfortunately as they are still there as far as we know, some must be paying.
  • Yeah, they've changed their MO to an even nastier version of before.

These people are really just one step above muggers in the food chain.

I just wish it was closer to hand for me to get there................the sparks would certainly fly!!!

Thanks, we found the West Lane one and literally got the last space left (as someone was just leaving), so I can see why people feel forced to park in the Changegate one round the corner (it was only about half full). Did have a nosy as we went past - didn't see anyone arguing/being intimidated or tickets on windows (no clamps either, but that's been banned right?), but I don't doubt it still goes on and certainly wasn't going to take the risk (would've waited at either of the council ones until there was a space) - I know you don't have to pay, but an intimidating confrontation, particularly when I was with my mum, would have put a dampener on our day out.

I did notice one of the pub car parks, right in the centre, which is free and for patrons only (bloke keeping an eye on things by the entrance), has a notice saying they clamp you (release fee £60) if you park in front of their access gate (which is fair enough) - maybe it's just an old sign though and they don't enforce.

I really hope these Changegate folk get shut down eventually (doubtful given how long they've been operating and the already limited parking in the village) - the stories I've read are horrible.

The pub cannot clamp (you are right, it is illegal) and neither should they have a sign threatening it = a threat of a criminal offence.

Good - it is the same as mugging, to extort money from people like they do.
