It’s Friday and is it me or has this week been long and drawn out??

DS gets to go to school in his normal clothes today in exchange for something for the school Summer Fayre. The kids in DS’s class are also having a ‘Dutch’ breakfast, one of his teachers is Dutch and the kids have been learning all about it this week.

My Dooyoo suggestion has been rejected as someone else beat me to the post…never mind at least I can upload it still. Just need to think of something else to review now.

I’m supposed to go to Playgroup this morning but I’m not sure if I can be bothered. DH wants me to get him some deodorant and I need to get some nappies for DD, I can use my gift card and get them in Boots, thus having a NSD :D

I’m out at one of my friend’s houses this evening as she is having a ‘Pampered Chef’ party and as it’s all women that are going to be there, I can foresee much laughter and drinking and not much eating going on…Good job DH paying for a taxi back.

On the upside I managed to get a £2 coin yesterday which is in my money pot :)

Forgot to mention yesterday that I put £20.02 worth of petrol in the car, this will last me a while with any luck, I’m using the car way too much but when the weather’s carp or if I have errands I don’t want to/can’t walk. I need to try and change this so that we are walking when the even if it is just to school in a morning

I also have managed four days with out drinking; this is partly because DH is on very strong anti-b’s for a tooth infection and because I don’t think it’s nice to drink when someone can’t, sleeping although was weird at first and I wanted a drink badly by Wednesday I actually don’t feel too bad now so will try and keep my drinking to a minimum from now on.

Right off to get sorted, hope everyone has a good day.

Just an update as I’m feeling a deflated, postie delivered DH’s payslip for the month and although it looks good on paper I know that once it hits the bank it’ll clear the overdraft and we’ll still be in the red, I know that we will have DH’s expenses paid in the account in a few days after but I just feel like we aren’t getting any where.

On e-bay, two items that I re-listed on there have got watchers but I did a stupid thing…okay I did two stupid things…I relisted some stuff for the third time…why? If it didn’t sell once or twice, why didn’t I just get rid to the charity shop??? The other stupid thing I did was I’ve got a bid on two quilt covers for DD, okay they’re only 99p at the moment and they have 7 days left but as DD has only got two quilt covers I thought she needed some more.

I go through this every month so I’m sorry if I am repeating myself and apologies for having a rant and sounding so negative :o but I have this rambling around in my head and I need to get it down otherwise it will drive me nuts!

So I need a plan for the this month in a vain attempt again that we might not be as close to the overdraft as we are this time and not relying on what we have in the savings to ‘top’ up the account when pay day is looming.

Perhaps I need to have a re-think on the way that I do things during the week? Weekends are a free for all and money does get spent, so if I can try and reign things in during the week the weekends might balance out?

Honesty time – I have ordered the shopping for the month and it has cost us £274.20; this includes bits and bobs for DS’s birthday party as some I can freeze.

Things coming up this next two weeks:
    • DS’s school fayre
    • Father’s Day
    • Hospital with DH
    • DS’s 5th Birthday Party
I have worked out that next week I can achieve at least 3 NSD’s out of 5.

The next post will be my plan for next week and how I can maximise the week without going overboard.
  • Now I’ve put it down on here I feel much better in the sense that I can see what or where I need to be heading.

Couple of things due back this coming week:
    • Refund of £84 for DH’s birthday present
    • Cheque for £24 from Music Magpie
As the money was for DH’s 40th Birthday, we did agree that he could spend it on something else, so although coming in it will be going out again.

I am going to meal plan for this week…I keep telling DH that we have stuff in the cupboards/freezer that need using up and he seems to have accepted that…which reminds me I need to sort the freezer out and see what we have lurking at the bottom of it.

Main spending this coming week is:
    • Buy DH some jeans and/or t-shirts & a card for Father’s Day
    • Look and buy something for DS for his birthday
    • Playgroup on Friday, not going to Tuesday one as buying above
    • Ds’s school fayre
My ways to attempt to save some money this coming week:
    • Walk to school with children – depends on weather and if it’s raining
    • Walk to Playgroup – depends on weather and if it’s raining
    • Get DH to take lunches – he’s been a bit slack on this, this past week
    • Meal plan so we avoid takeaways
    • Housework
    • Decluttering
I am planning to do the following to try and get some money this month:
    • Get Dooyoo reviews done and get points up to payout at end of month
    • Complete Lightspeed surveys and DH to do his too
    • List more stuff on Amazon
    • List more stuff on E-bay – If it doesn’t sell “GIVE TO CHARITY SHOP!”
    • Kick DH’s butt and get him to give me more of his old c.d’s to trade/sell
Another thing…I was supposed to be going out to my friends house tonight but her DD is poorly so she’s had to cancel the party, so no money spent on a taxi :D and we are having pizza out of the freezer, so no takeaways.

Hi Tea - just wanted to come back and show my support! You are doing amazingly well in what appear to be quite complicated and difficult circumstances - so really well done and keep doing it! I think MSE is like dieting - sometimes you have to do it for a while before you start to see the difference.... Bye for now!

  • Payday!!! :D Well it is for DH anyhow and more determination to get somewhere this month and end up with something left in the bank this time next month, this has cleared the overdraft as thought and has left us with £30 in credit. DH still has his expenses to go in yet.

Good things that happened this weekend:
    • Listed a lot on Amazon
    • Sold two items of the lot that we listed on Amazon
    • Uploaded another review on Dooyoo
    • The sun was shining
Today will not be the NSD that I had anticipated due to going to the post office to post my two parcels but that is all I need to spend today.

Shopping is to be delivered this morning between 10 – 12 am, so we’ll have some food in the house again.

Although we aren’t walking to school this morning, I have told DS that DD and I will be walking to school to pick him up later. I think that unless it is going to be raining or I have errands to run than we should walk to and back from school most days, I really need to stop being so reliant on the car.

Payment to SiL has gone out; we have only given her £150 this month so I hope she is okay with it like she said she would be.

I am thinking of starting the Payment a Day, I used to do it when it first came about but got side tracked, I figured that it could then be used to pay SiL off once I had enough?

    Things to do today:
    • Post office
    • Wash up
    • Wash at least one load
    • Clean bathroom and kitchen
    • Walk to school later to pick DS up
    • Decide what culinary delights to cook for dinner?
    Things to do this week:
    • Complete and upload at least 2 reviews on Dooyoo (3 would be good)
    • Walk as much as possible
    • House work…Pah!
    • 3 NSD’s needed but can foresee 2 happening
    • Hope cheque from Music Magpie arrives so it can be banked.
    • Surveys
    • Charity shop – A major must do!
Off to fill the sink with hot water and let the dishes soak until later.

Have a good day and I’ll update later with my guilty spending.
  • Not long after I log off, I receive a call from Ds school, they want to have a chat with me about DS.

He has a cough where it seems he's clearing his throat but not doing and although they have been ignoring it they have a new strategy that they are going to try and they want us to be aware so we can carry it on at home.

They believe the cough is a nervous one?!? I told his teacher that we believe that he is doing it for attention, so we shall see...I've got to go back at 2.30pm.

I am just loving Amazon at the moment…I listed something on there last night and this morning when I log on, I find that it has sold. I am so hoping that some more sell, I am eager to get rid of some more clutter…when they do the next pay out there will be £6.27 going in to the bank.

DS’s teacher yesterday told me that DS is a very bright and intelligent boy and just needs extra guidance to keep on the right path as she can see that he will become a difficult child otherwise. We have agreed to re-do the stickers with him in an attempt to stop his back-chatting. I on the other hand now feel like a bad parent on top of everything else!

    Oh hum.

My cheque arrived from Music Magpie…£26.49, which is more than I thought. I haven’t banked it yet as I can’t decide whether to keep hold of it until near the end of the month when it is more likely to be needed or just to throw caution to the wind and bank it now?

Yesterday I spent £1.80 posting the two items I sold and then spent 95p on chocolate for the kids.

Today my plan is as follows:
    • Post office to send parcel
    • Croydon to get DH something for Father’s Day and DS for Birthday
    • Wash up
    • Make a better attempt as deciding what to make for dinner
Shopping arrived yesterday, £254 in total in the end, so not too bad; I need to transfer the money that I saved on deals to the bank. DH has an old bank account that I can access via online banking and I thought that I’d put the money in there and then transfer it over at the end of every month and pay it to SiL as an over payment.

Have a good day and I’ll update later when I get back from my shopping trip.

  • Thanks Shaun, DS’s behaviour has been reasonable since our little chat, so maybe things could be working.

I have returned from Croydon and managed to get everything that I wanted, including some peppers for fajitas for dinner tonight.

Total spent: £149.59  – this includes, something for DH for Father’s Day, presents for DS for his birthday, nappies for DD, socks for me, parking and veg from the market, so all in all not too bad. At least I can now relax a bit as DS has everything for his birthday now.

I did come home and forget to get some bubble envelopes; DH is picking some up for me during his lunchtime so I can post the parcel tomorrow instead. Bang goes my week with NSD’s, but that is how it goes so I’m not going to beat myself up about it.

I did however get two £2 coins in my change today so they have gone very swiftly into my pot :D

I have also transferred £15.15 over to the old savings account for the money that I saved on the shopping and delivery :)

Off to do some housework...I guess I should really…the bathroom beckons.
