    Hi Cardew,

For completeness, the very interesting quote in full is:
Utility Warehouse's gas and electricity prices aren't the cheapest around – for direct debit dual fuel, Utility Warehouse is around £100 a year more expensive than the cheapest big six supplier in each region.

However, its customers don't seem to mind and gave it full marks for value for money.

LOL. Take care, Mike, or he'll be accusing you of being 'Mike Smith'.
ONE-STOP SHOP UTILITY WAREHOUSE IS THE BUSINESS

“GETTING everything from the same supplier certainly makes things simpler, and the monthly bills are a good way to keep tabs on energy use,” says Mike Smith, a Utility Warehouse gas, electricity, landline and broadband customer.

“But that's not the main reason I've stuck with Utility Warehouse. What I like is its customer service – if you email or call, it is amazingly good.

“They are intelligent, knowledgeable people, who answer questions very well and put you at ease – certainly not the usual call centre experience.”

Mike said that he hasn't had to call Utility Warehouse with any gas or electricity problems in the five years he's been a customer, but explained that he did have some problems with his landline and felt that the company 'bent over backwards' to help him.

On price, Mike said: “It doesn't claim to be the cheapest, and I'm not sure I've saved that much money, but it's good to know that if I need to contact the company about anything then I'll be dealing with good people who know how to treat their customers.”

I agree with Mr Smith about the monthly (paper!) bills as well. I would imagine it seves as a monthly wake-up call for people to at least think about their usage. Especially when even the Big 6 suppliers who provide paper billing seem to be migrating to just 2 bills per year.

The survey seems as worthless as the triple guarantee. But no doubt another great "sales aid" the reps can keep in their "brag file" and use when chatting to their mates down the gym.

Out of 6088 respones, only 90 uw "customers" completed the survey.

I suppose if there were more respondees you would say the figure looked suspiciously high, given their approx 1% market share?

PS Anyway, back to Cardew's BT deal....lol. £440.88 per year for it. Value for money?

Well firstly a confession. I actually pay £31.73 a month(not £31) I just went through my latest bill and I had incorrectly deducted a small discount from my some calls to mobiles.

    So 12 x £31.73 = £380.76 not £440.88

Right Carmine time for you to answer some questions.

    1. How much extra will you pay UW for your gas and electricity than the cheapest supplier?

    2. What is the UW price for the BT package I detailed above.

Don't bluster, just straight answers in ££££££s.

LOL. Questions for me? Answer my questions honestly first. I note your mate Quentin isn't providing back up on this one (he's probably hiding, wishing you'd stop with the 'my BT package is great value' nonsense.) Anyway, I note your 'confession' . We're getting there (slowly but surely :p) That's because you are clearly on Option 1 Broadband and NOT Option 2...unless you have been given a special offer that isn't avialable to everyone in which case your argument is an even more redundant one. You've clearly now checked your online bill, so which is it? Option 1 or Option 2? I know that BTs bills are clear as mud but I'm suspecting this won't be difficult to ascertain. I'm also assuming the different amounts that make up the total are listed, i.e. charge for line rental, charge for broadband and charge for the Anytime call package? Let's have them.

Unless you are checking your bills on that 'special TV' of yours....

As I suspected just bluster from you!

You really are getting to be a joke Carmine.

    P.S.
£31.73 is what I pay - sorry if that upsets you.

I don't doubt for a minute you pay that - for line rental, anytime calls and OPTION 1 BROADBAND, the spec of which is really rather poor and wouldn't look so good in a 'comparitive value' argument on here

Talking of bluster, I'm assuming you've now realised it's Option 1 but can't bring yourself to make a further 'confession'? Or maybe you get family staff discount? Who knows? You're certainly not saying...

Way to go with the personal insult as a reaction to things not going your way, I thought I was dealing with an adult. Oh well.

No. It's you with the bluster. You previously asked me to use my numbers with your best value choices for utilities and it was shown that I pay less by using Utility Warehouse. That was even before their latest price reduction. Carmine has asked you to give specific information and it is you who is now backing away.

Please, just give him the information so that he can make an accurate comparison. As previously stated, if you can show him a better deal than he can get with Utility Warehouse, he will go for it as he (by his own admission) has no loyalty, apart from saving himself money. No doubt he will go with what is best for him in his circumstances. That is what this site is about.

...but remarkably similar to your 'challenge' that was based on your particular circumstances.
Did we not decide that you could take electricity from the cheapest providor, use saynoto0870 and have a cheaper deal?
