Karen, I am planning to do the same from September. I just need to get past holidays and work stuff then I am planning to change my shifts around so that I am always off midweek on payday or very close, to do it all myself. I haven't had any real issues with Payplan, but they are slow to sort stuff out unless I ask them. I see it as part of my "recovery" in personal terms to sort my own mess out.

Good luck, and I will see how you get on.

I agree, "recovery" is a nice way of putting it. I am looking forward to actually managing my money again and doing it right this time round. I'll keep you posted on how it's going. That's a good idea re on having the day off close to payday - might work something like that myself. Good luck! x

Oh my goodness, now I remember why I opted for working from home.....one day in the office and I am pooped! I was up at 5am and out the door at 6am but didn't reach my desk in office until 8:25am :eek::eek:

For my sanity, if anything, home working was definately the right move for me and fingers crossed I am not having to go up to the office very often - 2/3 times a month. Not too bad. Although I am up again in two weeks for two day, must make sure I get plenty of sleep for those days. x

    Morning all,

I'm feeling suprisingly refreshed after a nice early night :D I needed it too after yesterday, didn't get home until gone 8pm. I wonder how I used to do the commute to London on a daily basis for over 3 years  I certainly couldn't do it now, I guess you just get used to it.

Anyway, the ball is rolling and on 16th June 2009 I will be making my last payment to my creditors through Payplan. I am very grateful for their help but as you all know that in the past few months payments have been going missing or late and then turn up on their systems a couple of months later. When I phone them their only response is 'we are really busy at the moment'....unfortunately not good enough for me, especially as I am getting more threatening letters than normal  After speaking to most of my creditors I now have all but one of the account details to pay directly myself so will be doing that as of July.

However, to do this I am not going to have to be super organised as don't want to mess things up. After 16th I will cancel my standing order to PP and send them a letter or thanks etc but won't be using them any more. I will then ensure all those that need to be set up via standing order are set and the rest i.e CC's I will sort via cheque or online banking. Either way they'll all be ready to be paid on July payday.

I'm quite excited as now have the freedom (slightly) to overpay as PP wouldn't let me do that. I'm really hoping that it all goes well and everything is straight forward. If not, I am a big girl and I can deal with them directly.

In meanwhile, I have now successfully.....

    1. Sorted a nice new folder, with dividers etc for all my debts and paper work.
    2. Started saving £2 coins (£4 already :T)
    3. Started a spending diary.

Need to get back on top of the flat and eating etc, for some reason can't seem to get back on track but now need to focus as away in less than 3 weeks :j

Hope everyone is having a good week,

    K xx

Well done for making the decision to organise yourself! I don't really know much about payplan and dmps but I guess it is better if you know u are in control of things. And by the sounds of things you can't do things much worse than they did :D

Working from home is hard - I really get sidetracked by other things especially MSE!

Hope you are having a good day x
