Your PSU load could still be a problem, did you check the power required with the link I posted?
Do you have the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website or did you use the ones on the CD with the card?0 -
I did that test and it says I need a 246w power supply. I had to select the nearest options as it doesn't show mine
I downloaded the latest from the websiteI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

I downloaded the latest from the website
If you can, please post as much information you have about everything in your PC, include CPU, Memory, Hard Disks, CD/DVD Drives, Modems, any USB devices. Then I can work out how overloaded your PSU is and also someone may be able to identify any conflicts.
It's good you are using the lastest drivers, this rules out old driver problems, unless the latest NVIDIA version has a bug. Unlikely as they are usually very good.
My diagnosis would be as follows:
Most likely PSU overloaded, Faulty Video Card or conflict. Would need to try Video card in different PC to narrow down.0 -
OH thinks I should try older drivers. I cannot see this being the problem
SN41G2 Shuttle
120gig HD
AMD XP Althlon 2800+
Pioneer 107 dvd drive
2 x 256mb ram (this will be upgraded soon)
Win XP Pro
USB Belking wireless connection
And thats it I think.
I really think it is the card but there is no way of testing

I would tend to agree about the card being faulty.
Problems like this tend to be caused by overheating, it could have been broke before you got it.
You should consider getting a better PSU for overall stability, if nothing else.
Do check that you have the latest DirectX drivers as well (do a Windows Update if you don't know where to get them)
Also a bit of a long shot but it does sometimes cause issues when video drivers are uninstalled and a new ones put on. Rarely some bits get left behind and cause issues. If there's any chance you can try in another PC you should. You've tried quite a few things, but otherwise you might be guessing at what is wrong without isolating the real problem.0 -
I have the latest directx etc
Many shuttle users use the same power supply and apparantly the temps are fine according to users on Sudhian.
I used a driver cleaner to make sure I have uninstalled all the old drivers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

took out the dvd drive as it was touching the cooling pipes took off the case and upped the agp aperture size to the size of the graphics card
all runs fine.
does this mean it is the heat? as it is cooler now
could it have been the dvd drive touching the pipes
or the aperture size?
If its the dvd drive I dunno what to do as they are a standarsd sizeI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Unlikely to be aperture size, this is usually to compensate for video cards with smaller amounts of video RAM to use system RAM for textures etc. Try reducing the aperture size down to 64Mb. If you only have 512Mb of RAM, you are using 1/4 for additional video memory set at 128Mb. This is likely a waste.
More likely it is overheating and you may have solved it by creating more air space.
If you think heat is a problem, you should see if you have space in the case to install a new fan. Check on your motherboard if there are additional connectors similar to the one the CPU fan is plugged into.
Look on eBay for fans, there are loads available for little cost.
If you do get a new fan, make sure you install it the right way, you should be drawing air in on one side and blowing it out the other.0
