ok, let me know if you want the code.

the boxes are great and you can omit anything you dont like and they replace it with something you do sometimes we tick 3-4 things we dont like or dont want that week.

some things are a little pricey but worth it like the burgers and sausgaes.

butter, milk, yogurt, cream are similar prices to the supermarket.

Nothing much in the way of os to report from me. I fell off a stool in the kitchen yesterday whilst letting an interesting insect out of the kitchen window. Ds was already standing on the only chair in the kitchen as he was making cakes (well fiddling with food colouring and icing if I am going to be honest).

I now have a 14cm long bruise up my right calf, and as I've had to go to stinky work too, I'm having a day off from house and garden things. I'm tired too, as I was up in the night as my sore leg kept me awake.

I keep having sneaky peeks in the propogator to see if any more seeds are coming up. I planted them late this year as I didn't want them all to die while we were on holiday. A watched pot never boils is certainly true in this case, lol, although the salad leaves are doing well.

I watched Susan Boyle on You tube too. Amazing!

Blimey my kids are being so loud:rolleyes: Still at least it is happy-loud and not arguing-loud.

They're waiting for a batch of muffins to cool. I've only made 12 instead of my usual double batch as I'm trying to reduce the amount of sweet baking I do (for my health rather than the kids' health). I've actually stocked up on things like oatcakes and bread sticks for their snacks. More expensive I expect, but I won't eat them and the kids like them just as well as a biscuit.

I've not been using my farmshop much recently. I was finding that I didn't fancy the veg I was buying from there so we were wasting a lot. I decided to buy stuff we all like instead no matter where it has come from :p So bags of washed salad (much less waste than whole lettuces for us), peppers, avocados and lovely green beans, mangos and pineapples and Braeburn apples. The big sacks of spuds from the farm shop aren't good value at the moment because they are sprouting.

My priority now is 'what do we like that is good for us?' and not 'what's local and in season' although of course when the two coincide then I'll go for local and seasonal.

I'm really trying to eat more healthily and to do that I need to have fruit and veg I really want to eat in my fridge.

Tonight we're having leftover chicken with Ebly and various veg (sun-dried tomatoes, sweetcorn, peas, peppers)all mixed together plus salad.

    Hi all

Home from work at last, tidied round, made a huge pan of bolognaise sauce for tea and freezer. Also made a large pan of carrot and coriander soup and made some humous for dips with carrot sticks etc

On way home went shopping for fresh salad etc and bought a ham hock (or I presume that is what it is but in Morries they called it a gammon shank?!?). Now this is perhaps not the best move I have ever made as I do not have a clue what to do with it. I just thought it might be nice coz I keep reading about all you clever people cooking them and how lovely they are but when faced with the real thing I don't know where to start. Do I take all skin bit and fat off it? I know that it should go in the slow cooker but do I immerse it in water or just put a bit of water in?

If any body can help or put a link into a thread that will help I would be very grateful. Also bought some dried peas coz I remember reading about pea and ham soup - take it I make this with the boiling water/liquor?

Sorry to appear so stupid but it is a piece of meat I have never cooked before:o

Nic - I buy these all the time and just put them in the slow cooker overnight with about an inch or two of water.
I take the skin off after cooking when its still hot and after about 20 mins or so i take the bones out and scrape any fat off. It`s a lot easier whilst its still hot. Save the liquid to make soup with.

Cranky - ouch! Hope your leg feels better soon, also a fall is a shock to the system. LB and your little one may be able to ignore it but adults need to take care of themselves after!

Little bear refused to have his face wiped, put his hands over his face and ran into a wall, ricocheting off the safety gate. Now he is a grumpy bear.

Lots of previously healthy plants are now dying off. Evil cat's gentleman caller is a HUGE tom cat that has allegedly been 'done' and who seems to think he can bask in our garden to his heart's content. I may look at the non MSE but interesting sounding lion dung idea. It may upset evil cat, however, and she is not a well puss. Though still completely evil.

Well, LB has had a walk out and back and is still grumpy hence refuge in here for five minutes. No idea what to do next but five minutes are up.

    Hugs to all.
