Fingers crossed that your Dad is able to leave hospital soon.

DH has gone to work and has hung out two machine loads of washing for me.

Waiting to see if his new electric razor (bargain from Amazon) is delivered today - he is like a big kid!!!;)

Need to stay in on Wednesday as well for a delivery for DD(23) and one day this week go out and buy myself a new skirt or smart trousers to wear to a family get together on the 25th.

Tea tonight will be a salad if the weather stays nice - or veg lasagne or egg fried rice if it turns colder.

DD(20) goes back to uni at the weekend so want to get her a few things to stock up on and all go visit elderly relaive before DD sets off back.

Hugs to everyone and see you later

Enjoying some peace and quiet with a nice cup of tea.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Little bear had tummy ache last night, after licking all the mint sauce off his Dad's chips!

I can't wait for him to speak. Dear heart and I spent ages trying to work out why he wasn't happy. Then he delivered the biggest series of bottom burps I have ever heard and was asleep within five minutes. What a cure for insomnia!

As someone who aspires to OS, I am finding it hard to deal with all the things that LB has. In our living room there is literally a mound of things that he plays with - cars and hats and now drum kits () and pretend lap tops... In his room there are literally heaps of stuff for him to play with. I feel uncomfortable about the sheer quantity and also I don't think that it is necessarily good for him. How can he anticipate a nice surprise? How can he feel like he has had a treat? Now, I have been guilty of buying lots of 'stuff' but now I want to buy less and less. I honestly don't see how he can really enjoy all of the things he has got.

Don't misunderstand me - I am happy for him to have the things he enjoys, but it is silly. Dear heart and I are going to have to once again go through his things and get rid of the tatty and outgrown, it is less than six months ago we lost a few bin sacks full of things, which I don't think he even noticed. Most of the stuff is gifts. And of course we let him play with them, and he enjoys himself, but there just seems so much. I don't want him to be limited to one or two toys, but I just don't know how to manage it all.

Sorry for the ramble, but my angle on OS (not that I am saying it should be anyone else's) is that less is more, and LB is getting so many gifts that we are slowly submerging in Early Learning Centre packaging.

I just wonder if I am being unreasonable in thinking that he doesn't need as many toys as he has.

And the gifts are unlikely to abate. Last summer my darling uncle bought him a squeaky carrot dog toy to play with. He has just bought him a Bratz drum kit designed for nine to ten year olds. Some of the more random purchases are filtered out, but it is a gift to LB, and he should have the chance to play with it.

:o Sorry for the long post.

Morning all - just thought I'd drop in, I haven't posted on this thread for months as I rarely have anything OS to say, but I hope everybody is doing well :D

Doing a storecupboard challenge this month as I have my freezer and cupboards rammed full, and have committed to quite a few expensive luxuries over the next couple of months (not least a trip to visit Nelski, which somehow always seems to involve a certain amount of clothes shopping :o) which will need to be funded from somewhere! With fresh milk, fruit & veg, fresh orange juice etc I'm expecting to come in under £10 a week on groceries for at least the rest of this month, which should save me a tidy sum. I just have to try and resist "bargains" - I was all set to come in hugely under budget last week and then I happened upon Tesco at reductions time and ended up spending nearly £20 on stuff which, though I'll use it all, I could have done without :o

Otherwise, things here are the same as ever. I've been really busy with church choir over the weekend, then spent yesterday visiting my mum. I'm off to a concert this evening and another on Saturday.

Lunch today will be lentil curry and rice; dinner will be chilli.

    Rzl xx

Sybil - One thing I found useful was to have all the toys in boxes (apartf rom the big things that wouldn't fit) and to rotate them every 2wks to a month. I stored the unused boxes in the loft & lifted them out to change the toys. The children all enjoyed playing with their stuff this way. I found that they used to pick the same things out & throw it around when they were all out but played & investigated toys that were 'new' or that they hadn't seen for a while. This may help I hope.

Well the kitchen smells gorgeous at the moment. I have a traybake of Twinks world famous hobnobs cooling and 2 weetabix loaf cakes in the oven. Its making me very very hungry :rotfl:

    Morning all,

SunnyGirl, Thinking of you and your mum today. I hope you get some reassuring news about your Dad.
Stef, I'm glad you had a good time.
nic1lou2, I have got into the habit of copying my posts before pressing the submit button because it's so frustrating when to loose everything you typed.
Bargain rzl, it's good to see you posting again.
Sybil, It's difficult with a first child especially as everyone seems to want to give them lots of presents. What I used to do was put toys in plastic crates in the garage and rotate them every week or so. I don't know if you have the space to do that but it might be worth thinking about because that way they still got to play with them and in fact enjoyed them more because it felt like they had new toys each week. I found they could get overwhelmed by too many toys and only play with the ones at the top of the box if I kept them all in their room. But maybe that's because I'm a bad mummy who always insisted that they helped clear up any mess they made. :o

Well, after all the lovely weather, today is a washout. :( It's piddling down so unless it brightens up soon there is no point in going to the mountains. It's so overcast that we can't even see them this morning. The alternative plans are a fun filled day going to a local swimming pool with lots of slides and wave machines or ice skating. Neither are really my idea of fun, but needs must. The birthday boy got a wii so I had to move the coffee table in the living room before he killed himself falling over it....I'm just glad Haribo wasn't here to see the dust underneath. Oh the shame.! :o That room is definitely next on my list for a spring clean. I'm cooking birthday pancakes for breakfast which is a family tradition on birthdays, lunch will be a snack and hm birthday cake and tea will be either a barbeque or takeaway. So not a very old style day in the true sense, but it should be a lovely family day.

I hope you all have a good day.

    Good morning :D

SunnyGirl hope it's better news regarding your Dad today. Keeping everything crossed for you all.

redruby, same for us. The sun finally appeared about 2pm yesterday. Today is lovely:rolleyes: OK for me and DH, we're at home, but I feel really sorry for all the back-to- work folk. Next door came home early from their weekend away. Hadn't stopped drizzling and the girls were fed up. Such a shame.

I've sorted out the baking ingredients. Anzacs are a definite, we have coconut:T And if DH can refrain from calling me to "come and see this" every five minutes they will get made today:rolleyes: What is it with men that they think you should admire every tiny thing they do? He's putting all the bits back in the bedroom we've decorated, and adjusting cupboard doors etc. As long as they open and shut I'm happy, I do not need to see a slow-mo replay of each one:rotfl:

Washing out on the line, and dinner sorted. I've got a nice joint out of the freezer and will do a roast since we've not had one all Easter. DH3 is coming straight from work and will stop over tonight :jSo mustard-crumbed ham joint, roasties, carrots, cauli, and peas followed by HM apple pie and cream. After the mixed bag DH and I have eaten this past few days, that will be a real treat.

:bdaycake: Happy Birthday master Pink. Enjoy the mountains and your BBQ!!

Hope everyone has a good day, CM x

Just seen your post Pink which makes me look a complete idiot:o:o I shall kill DH, it was yet another " come and look" that delayed me posting:rolleyes: Hope he has a lovely birthday despite the change of plans :D
