OS Daily Tuesday 14th April

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 14th April 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning peeps
hope that you are all well. The weather today should be dry so assuming the forecast is correct i should be in the garden for a lot of it
Yesterday i repotted some seedlings and tidied the greenhouse yet again, DH swept all the walls and the floor in the shed to get rid of all the nasty eight legged thingies that were lurking in there so it`s safe once again:D
I finally sorted out my strawberries after the old planter had crumbled after the frost, i made a new one out of one of the woven plastic patio bags from Wilko and cut slits in it and fed the plants through. It should do the job well enough and dosen`t look too bad actually - very neat and tidy but i shall miss my old planter.
I made a sausage and onion pie for today so i shall sort some veggies etc out to go with that and then take the houndies for their walk, i`m taking Dad to the garden centre later so i need to make sure the car boot is empty as it`s tiny and we will struggle to get anything in it. I shall not buy anything at all
I really need to get some of my ironing mountain done but i keep looking at it and walking past
it is starting to get in the way and i`ve hidden it in a couple of places and had to move it again when i put other bits and bobs away so i suppose i could really have ironed half of it in the time wasted moving it from one place to the next, i hate doing it so much that i just keep putting it off - maybe later
Right i`m off for a quick browse and then a hot shower to start the day.
Hope that you all have a good one.

Morning Sunnyday and all who follow,
Plan to get this post out before the hour is up, seems to take me ages to type. I've just popped BM on and WM.
Will grab whatever from the freezer for dinner as I want to crack on with the out building, there's loads of pipes, planks of wood and guttering stored in the rafters so will get them down and insist DH sorts through and get rid of useless bits. He's such a hoarder, last night I emptied 4 cupboards, there were loads of tins of nuts, bolts, screws nails washers etc and counted 12 empty jars and 9 empty Marvel tins, Why? "oh they might come in handy" he said. Jeeeez. Give me strength.
We power washed the stone we collected and it seems to have once been pebbledashed, they look like a bar of Aero on one side.
Off to catch up on y/days thread and grab another coffee.0 -
Morning all - back from my trip - okehampton is beautiful - did a lot of walking and then a drive down to the coast - there are some pictures here http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/album.php?aid=103874&id=772966101&ref=nf for those on facebook.
The seeds in the beds that the doggy nxt door mashed up have sprouted so i don't know now whether to dig them up and start again or leave them to see what comes up - about half the other seedlings have come up too so will let them play outside in the daytime this week to harden them off. One of the beans is growing about an inch an hour - do you think if i wait long enough there will be a rich giant at the top?
back to w*rk today and a real tightening of the belt - i have 3 weeks left here and then start my new job which is a promotion but is going to eat into my OS time and cost me some travel money
have good days all - will catch up laterI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Grrrr Just lost a long post - will have to post again later as need to work now.

Morning.
Week off for me. We have some friends coming to stay from Lincs, so they should arrive later this afternoon.
We will make pasties for them I think.
The incubating eggs did not fair too well. For some reason many died in their shell, which was a huge disapointment. I don't know why, could be an incubator fault.
We have 4 and the kids enjoy playing with them anyway. There are 38 more on the go, so hopefully we can do better this time.
Yesterday it rained all day, must be miserable if you were camping. I worked, very boring, but double time.
Left overs last night cleared the fridge out, so all set for a tidy and re-fill.
Best get the coffee and a paper, cheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good morning everybody...I have not opened the curtains yet, so I don't know how it looks outside....Went to Tesco yesterday to buy a bookcase...ended up spending nearly 30 AND the bookcase is only in the catalogue...Oh well, I needed a new frying pan and rubbish bin.......Today, the electrician is coming to fit the thermostat for the boiler.....Today, my BEST is good enough.0

Hello everybody,
I see Martin still looks like a giant rat.Hope you all had a happy Easter break. I did.
Today has been the first day of sunshine and the washing line has been heaving for most of the day. Got most of it dry. Floors vacumed and washed. I even pushed the boat out and washed down the lounge.
I was going to work with DH tomorrow but he's leaving pretty early & won't be back until late. I've still got a few jobs I want to do at home as I've got DGS on Thursday. Of I forgot to tell you. After Bingo last night (I won 3 times) DH showed me a You Tube clip of Susan Boyle whose in your Britian's got Talent. It was so wonderful. We both had tears in our eyes.
CM We expect pictures of your decorating skills.
N9eav Better luck next time with your hatchings.
Stef Will have a sticky shortly.
Off to make DH pack up and pour myself a wine. I think I deserve it after all the hard work I've done today.Have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Stef: The pictures are lovely. The weather looks like it was brilliant.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning everyone
Well weather is looking better so wm is on , hopefully will get it dry outside!! , after a very long and unproductive weekend oh is finally back at work :j so i should be able to get things done today am planning on making a big lasagne should be enough for dinner tonight and 6 portions in the freezer .
Spent a lovely hour last night sorting through some baby clothes my dads freind passed down , there are some gorgeus bits , just need to wash it all now !
hope everyone has a lovely day :-)0 -
Good morning everyone. Not read the thread yet but (((((((((hugs)))))))))) to anyone who needs them. I've had a bit of a lie in this morning until 6.50am :rotfl: I've rang my Mum, who is still alone in the caravan, and she's doing okay but will be glad when the cardiac consultant has done his rounds this morning at the hospital & we'll know more about whats wrong with Dad & can he be transferred to our local hospital etc etc. My Dad himself is very flat now as nothing has been done all weekend as there were no doctors on duty with it being a bank holiday weekend - only emergencies. Understandable but frustrating none the less.
I'm planning on a day of pottering in the garden & house catching up on any jobs that need doing. I've just pegged one load out to dry & another one is in the WM now. Dinner this evening is spaghetti carbonara which is nice & easy & can be made while the pasta is cooking. I'll do a salad to go with it for anyone who wants it (probably just DD & I - none of the boys 'do' salad)
I hope that everyone has good days & that work flies by for those back today.

Morning everyone,it's dull but dry out and after the three fabulous days we've had I'm hoping it's going to be another fine day.
I just can't believe how wonderful the weather was this Easter,I can't remember a better one.
I've got loads to do today, house cleaning from top to bottom, loads of washing.
I've got the first load of washing in already.
I'm pleased to say my storecupboard and freezer got me through the long weekend. After deciding I just did'nt want to be bothered with shopping(or brave the queues) I spent a total of £4.76 at my local shop on bread, milk and bananas which was all I needed as I had everything else, despite not having been shopping for a week.
Just goes to show that you buy for buying's sake when you do the weekly shop.
I hope everyone's ok (((hugs))) to all in need.
Have a good day all.Hope the weather's nice.0
