  • A couple of questions - well three actually: how long do you do it for in the slow cooker; do you have to bring the coke to the boil before pouring into the slow cooker; and do you have to use brand name coke or will a reasonable own brand one do? TIA.
  • bit of a a :o question here, but what sort of gammon should I buy to do this? There seem to be an array on the sainsbury's website, but none that say mild-cure.

Can anyone translate for me please? Thanks

any full sugar coke - you want sweetness and the caramel flavour. Have used supermarket own and it was fine - but Nigella herself warns against diet.

Mimbellina - I just use normal unsmoked gammon joint

  • Thanks Hex. I will add one to my Christmas shop :)
  • Does Nigella not use cherry coke?? I always do and the ham tastes lovely
  • How long do we think would be a good time to leave it in the slow cooker for? And on low or high?

I'm so looking forward to trying this!

I'd be interested in this too. I've got a slow cooker but find that the food I cook in it all has a sort of similar taste so don't use it much but if I'm only cooking the ham partly in there it might be ok and I won't feel too bad about having something I don't use much being used!
