I've cooked ham in coca cola before and it's very tasty - to be recommended! Never heard or tried the black bean soup though, will have to give that one a bash!0

That is exactly what I was looking for. Has anyone tried it in a slow cooker?0

Hi,
I usually do the main cooking in the slowcooker and then glaze it in the oven. its beautifully sweet and sticky this way.
Its something of a wonderfood in our house, its gone in a blink of an eye, no matter how big the ham I buy.
Word to the wise though, never ever use diet coke, it has to be full fat coke. Soft dark brown sugar complements the sweet flavour from the coke as a glaze and turns almost to toffee in the oven
I've never re-used the coke, but in the book she suggests using it again to make red cabbage.
Hope this helps!

Hey, so can you quickly go through how I glaze it before putting it in the oven from the slow cooker.
In fact, being a bit a daft bloke, any step by step instructions would be most welcomed!0 -

Im going to do my cooking on Xmas Eve, should I leave the glazing till Xmas Day?????cheerio hen0 -

This thread is just what I was wanting - my daughter wanted me to do a ham this christmas and I'd never done one before - but I will be doing now + the sweetcorn pudding, they sound scrumptious.

No problem!
First take it out of the slowcooker and allow to cook slightly on a plate. Then remove the skin (rind?) with a sharp knife, and most of the fat with it. Then I just mix some dark molasses sugar with a bit of water (keep adding slowly so it does get too runny) to make a thick paste and smear it on. You could just put the sugar on as a solid, but I find it falls off :S
Then just whack it in a hot oven for 15 to 20 mins until the ham is nicely roasted and glazed all over (you may need to scrape up what's flowed off and baste the ham again with it from time to time)
Scrummy
