hmmm a good question, quite a few on here use the 16% successfully I think mixing it with moisturiser is the way to go but I have skin similar to yours and it is bad bad bad on my face to use this product, it highlighted every mark or blemish and went very very uneven and even sunk into my unusually large pores:eek: so now I stay away and use foundation and bronzer instead, yes my face is paler than my body but I think it looks nice and would rather that than the horrendous mess that was the 16%:rotfl:make sure you order the Siennasol extreme to get the 16% if thats what you want please read through the thread there are great tips about application and layering etc so you can get the most from your product and of course come back and tell how you go:)

Off topic for a moment, regarding your skin have you tried the Freederm range of products? Especially the gel, its changed my skin like nothing ever has and thats from years and years of trying from about the age of 12 I cant recommend the gel highly enough it would be my desert island product and thats saying something cos I'm addicted to all things beauty;)

Hi Glowgirl - Gargh I hate having a pale face too! I will try it with some moisturiser and see. I've read a lot of the posts but not all...there's loads lol .... this is a great thread!

Re Freederm, no never used it I have never heard of it tbh. I don't get spots anymore would it still be useful just even for my scars? I did consider surgery to try and improve the scars but found a good cosmetic surgery forum and they suggested to try bio oil which I do have but as I would need to put it on every night it would no doubt get into my hair and I don't have time to get myself, my daughter (17 months) and my husband (men eh!) organised in the morning before work as well as doing my hair every morning too and it would no doubt be a nightmare to get out completely. But then again I should really try as it might help.....anyway I have went off in a tangent lol.

Do you still get spots? How is your skin now? It was my friend that said to speak with my doc as it really affected my confidence and my doc referred me for the surgery so I got it all done on the NHS.

    xo

    Good move, well done:)

I dont think the freederm (its about 2 or 3 years since it came out only available from pharmacies but no perscription needed) would help if you dont get spots now it has cleared mine after years of distress and heavy make up (I'm 41) my 14 year old daughter had better skin than me :confused:however I'm good now just the odd hormonal one here and there, I have heard great things about bio oil but never needed to use it myself but certainly would if necessary, this is a long thread but while your waiting for your ss try to get the other bits you need so you can get started straightaway you need, gloves, mit and spray bottle (makes life a lot easier) and a back applicator if you dont have a willing helper;)

  • Hi all

Just to say I too am now addicted to Siennasol!!! Thank you sooooooooooooo much!!!
I am naturally quite fair skinned with blonde hair. Usually would burn if i was sunbathing then go a kind of golden colour (eventually after a couple of weeks).

I ordered the small bottle and did as you said by decanting it to a spray and using the mitt but I was a bit scared as I never use fake tan so going straight to extreme could have been a disaster!!!!

I went a lovely colour but not as dark as Id imagined so I did it again night before last and got brave, put loads on and I am now a Deep Golden Brown, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Loads of comments at work today and passed the details on to loads of people!!! I have now ordered the next big bottle up!

    Thank you all!!!

Oh and I have put it on my face too, when id done the rest of my body i just used the excess off the mitt on my face and it looks lovely. I do have some acne scars and some dry patches and it is slightly patchy in those areas but nothing that looks any worse than the spots and once my foundation is on it looks fab.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

Lily - I have skin like you describe, & have also had laser treatment & microdermabrasion to help. It's not perfect but much better.

I mixed a tiny amount of Siennasol with my usual face moisturiser & it worked fine, but I would definitely heed Glowgirl's warning & not just slap the Sienna straight on. You could build up the colour slowly on your face by mixing with moisturiser & hopefully this won't result in any disasters! I am about to start doing this this week.

Alternatively you can get fake tan creams designed as moisturisers for face. I used Make Believe night time which was OK, and have also tried the Johnson's one & Clarins with no adverse effects :)

If you are thinking of adding Siennasol to a mousturiser take care. Hydrated skin does retain the tan for longer, but avoid lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids (AHA's) as these may cause skin exfoliation & won't do your tan any good.

Ohhh, welcome Richard :) It would be great to have a Siennasol rep on the thread although you will get bombarded with questions!!

Thought I would update as I have started my trial proper this week (attending wedding on Fri). I always put the colour on in the evening & it always looks a little bit disappointing until after my morning shower, then - bam! - fantastic golden glow! I love this stuff :D I am doing a second layer tonight & will probably go for a third as well as I want to be really dark.

What I like is how natural the colour is and how good it looks, not 'fake' or orange at all.

Just wanted to add my thanks again to all the posters but especially Glowgirl & Feline Princess for all the invaluable information. I'll let you know how I get on once I have gone as dark as I would like, I'm sure it will be great but hoping I don't end up looking at all WAG-ish come Fri! Deep bronze is what I'm after but I'm Siennasol will be just the job :)

I have had no problems using it with my moisturiser on my face, but I use a totally natural cream for my very sensitive skin, so I can only assume that this has nothing in it that reacts with the tan.
Proud to be a moneysaver :)
  • Thank you, BrownMe, just a friendly word of warning that self promotion is much frowned upon on MSE:)
