Trying to find the darkest self tan

Hey hey tanned goddesses
Has anyone got one of the air compressor spray tans to use at home with the solutions? DD has a spray tan very few weeks and I can't pursuade her to follow the 'mitt method' :rotfl:
She's thinking it would be cheaper in the long run to buy the actual spray gun and set up a salon in the garage, but we don't know which one to get. Is the air compressor the same one used for power tools but just with the spay gun attachment?
thanks for any help.

Hi Avstar! Don't know which spray tan machines but I'll be interested to hear how you get on when you get one! Just curious, why wont your DD try the mitt method?
May be worth looking on a professional tanning forum for advice on the machine, here is a link to one http://www.tanprofessionals.com/tanning-forum.php?go=1 there is another one but not sure what the address is, think there is a link in this thread somewhere!0 -
Well, the Siennasol has arrived & I will be trying it tonight! (secretly excited
)
I have all the stuff (mitt etc) & have read through about applying it, hopefully it will all be fine. I used to use fake tan a lot, so I *should* be ok!
Just another question - my plan was to have a bath, exfoliate thoroughly & apply the SS once I am dry. Should I be moisturising any dry patches (elbows etc) beforehand? I have some aftersun, & some left over Make Believe gradual tanner, but nothing else at the moment as I usually use oil.
Anything else I need to know or am I good to go?!!Proud to be a moneysaver0 -
Hi GFN123, sounds like you really know what your doing! I don't moisturise dry patches before hand I just put a bit less on elbows and knees but moisturising is probably a better way of doing it!
Let us know how it goes! Be warned - it's totally addictive!0 -
Thanks Feline Princess.
Addictive - uh oh!! I was already going to buy a bigger bottle, guess it's a slippery slope now
Oh, one more question - can I mix a little with my usual face moisturiser for my face? As Glowgirl mentioned, I don't have the best skin either so don't really want extra tanned pimples, but might look odd with a much paler face!Proud to be a moneysaver0 -

DD reckons the mitt method is too difficult for her to master - she doesn't have much patience :rotfl:but thinks her and her mates ( and prob me) will be better tanning each other.
That forum is great - lots of professional spray tanners giving advice - thanks and I'll let you know how we get on.

Hi everyone:) Hey FelinePrincess, long time no see, excellent advice as always:)
My tanning is going well atm just sticking to Siennasol and no other moisturiser just about to order some more so no complaints:DOh, one more question - can I mix a little with my usual face moisturiser for my face? As Glowgirl mentioned, I don't have the best skin either so don't really want extra tanned pimples, but might look odd with a much paler face!
Please be careful with the 16% on your face, I am quite hardended to mistakes but if you are a sensitive type or if you have to go into work with not so great skin, don't chance it, I mean that in the nicest possible way, when I tried mine I had to wear a really pale foundation for 2 days cos I couldn't get it off:rotfl:I am very dark atm (with siennasol) and just use foundation and bronzer, my face is slightly paler than my body but I think its fine if you do decide to go ahead with doing your face exfoliate and moisturse at least 30 mins before you put it on and go lightly, remember you can add but not take away;) Good luck, I bet you love the product lets us know how it turns out:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Hi glowgirl,
I have been reading this thread with interest due to being a spray tan technician. There are a lot more companies out there you could try for your solution, although if you like it as dark as you do then maybe siennasol would be your best bet to use. If you would like a list of other companies feel free to PM me and I will let you know some of them and you can check out there website. There are a lot of fab tanning solutions out there!!0 -
:j I did it! It's great
Thanks to Glowgirl & Feline Princess for all your invaluable advice.
I had a bath, and used a combination of dry body brushing, sea salt & scrubbing to try & remove the now-patchy Make Believe that was still clinging to me. After I had dried off I used the mitt & poured very small amounts of the Siennasol on & started to apply in large circles & strokes. Luckily the colour guide is easy to see & helps avoid any patches.
It was scary at first, as the liquid is quite runny (managed to tip a load down the sink, although luckily not on the carpet!) so will be investing in a small spray bottle as recommended for next time.
Half way through my skin looked quite dry & patchy from the leftover other tan, and I thought I was going to end up a scaly nightmare. But this morning I am left with a lovely, even natural colour. Going on it looked terrible, and had clung to the drier patches & I thought it would be a disaster!
I didn't get your advice in time GG, so I have actually mixed a tiny amount with moisturiser for my face, and that has turned out really well
I would guess that 2 more 'coats' will produce the colour I want. I am definitely hooked & am seriously impressed!
But I have a wedding in 2 weeks time to attend, so my aim is to actually spend this week scrubbing off all the patchy stuff & start afresh.
Can anyone recommend the best way of doing this please? Obviously my method above wasn't much success. I have never found an exfoliator for skin that works very well, I usually use rough sea salt in olive oil, so just left out the oil this time. Clearly the salt alone contributed, but the skin on my body dries up very quickly after a bath/shower usually anyway, and this didn't help when applying the tan yesterday.
I thought of using the last of the gradual tanner from Make Believe as a body moisturiser first, as this should help the Sienna glide on better next time, any ideas if this will be a better approach & what is the best way to scrub off the old patchy MB stuff in the meanwhile?
Thanks again for all your help so far, I'm very pleased with this stuff as the colour is so lovely. I keep turning on the lights to admire my arms... :rotfl:Proud to be a moneysaver0
