I have been up to mischief already though.:p Mr Tag has some old plates that he insists on keeping. Well that's fine by me as long as they are kept in the loft out of the way, which is where I tried to put them last week. Mr Tag did protest and refused to allow me access to them 'cos they will get broken' So he shoved them down by the side of our bed, very safe place, NOT and then promptly tripped over them this morning and nearly broke them:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.
OK I think lunch has settled - off into garden.
I looked out of the kitchen window this morning and wondered why I had daffs where I hadn't planted any - then I realised that they were dandelions! (well they are the same colour) They are about to disappear:mad:0 -

I have a question for you ladies....
we are still having a bit of a problem with little tiny fly/gnat type things in our flat. DH said he has cleaned up about 50 this weekend (bear in mind everywhere was hoovered last monday). Is it likely to be some kind of nest? we tend to find them near the windows so i'm assuming they are just finding their way in, we also have a lot of air bricks (windows all double glazed). I have also wondered if they are coming from my compost which is in a bag under the sink (though there aren't any more of them there than elsewhere)
any advice appreciated as it's not very nice!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
promise of installation of shower (but have decided to go for a full bathroom refit instead so have politely declined that one - I didn't ask, it was offered...)

QUESTION..
I being a girl with inch long pretty painted nails... how difficult is it to put up a shelf?? I can wallpaper.. and lay carpet.. and erect kitchen units.. and fix a plug etc.. but using a drill (not that I have one!) is something that does make me a little nervous!! Tell me I am a girl and need a manly beast to come do it for me!
Well, from what I know of you on here: 1)you want to do it yourself, 2)You probably will do it yourself and 3) you will do a good job if you do...:rotfl:
It's quite straight forward, just mark a level line on the wall where you want the shelf to go with a spirit level, mark the holes you need to drill along that line (if brackets, put the same hole of each bracket on the line IFKWIM, if a floating shelf where you can't see the fixings, put the top or bottom of the line and then mark the holes) .
Then make sure you have the right fixings for the type of wall that you have (hollow walls need cavity fixings and brick walls need rawplugs - ask in DIY shop and they will help you.)
then borrow a drill
then, with the right size drill bit (they have numbers 6 or 7 is normal, check the size of the screw and raw plug too), mark it with a bit of masking tape to the depth you need to drill down - ie: put the screw against the end of the drill bit and mark where it finishes with masking tape, then you will know how deep to go with the drill.
then drill the hole - it's easy, just keep the drill straight and at 90degrees to the wall, start slowly and keep the drill pressed against the wall as you do it - once you start, speed up a bit as you get a slight hole as it will hold it steady
If you have another pair of hands, get them to switch the vacuum on and hold the nozzel slightly under the drill to catch all the dust, or stick an envelope under where you want to drill with some masking tape to catch the dust.
Hope that helps....;)LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

Hi Rach
d'you know if they are fruit flies at all - but the chances are it's the compost. I have a fruit collector and sometimes get fruit flies in the summer if I forget to empty it (and because one of my compost bins is fairly close to the back door). I have stickers on my windows (from supermarket) whick attract and kill them - they stick to them.
AFAIK the only 'flies' that nest are bees and wasps because they have colonies - the rest of them just lay their eggs in what ever (and you don't really want me to carry on...)
fruit flies are VERY prolific (and NOT as big as in the picture!)
