    Hi all! :D
I feel a bit bad as I've not really been keeping up to the flying this week- the kitchen is still nice and clean and tidy so I guess that's a result at least. Will try harder next week (and have monday to myself so should be able to get busy and make things twinkly then :D)

    Well so far today, I've:
    • caught up with the thread,
    • been to the gym and done another 5.44km for my marathon challenge,
    • done my meal plan for the week,
    • done the food shopping,
    • eaten lunch,
    • put away 2 loads of washing and hung one lot out on the line,
    • rescued my M&D's washing cos their machine has broken down mid-cycle and they will come to collect it at around 6pm.
Need to do more in the way of flying to complete lists though, so think I'll do some of that whilst I'm waiting for my M&D's washing to finish.

    HHC 3-3.30 anyone?
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Thats funny, Greenbee will do that! We do have mains water, but prefer to use the well as its free...the water has been tested, but we haven't had it done recently, yes we should, you're right. We have a physical filter and a UV lamp to kill microbes. The parish council are very concerned that if we show any signs of being a working village, rather than a tourist attraction, it will reflect badly on them. I say if they want marigolds growing at perfect right angles to the soil and manicured lawns, they should go live in a park! No offence meant to people who have no choice about living rough...

My parents live in a small rural location, which for years had about 50 inhabitants... mostly farm workers or retired farmworkers, plus the farmers, a solicitor, the main landowner and a couple of other middle-class professionals who worked in the local towns. The farmworkers cottages have now all been tarted up, as have the crumbling farmhouses (and of course, the names have been changed ) and the barns have been converted.

A recent incomer has complained to the parish council about lorries driving on the verges (how else are the tractors and beet lorries supposed to get down single track roads ); asked for street lighting (where would you be going in the evening... there's no pub or shop!); suggested that the pond is lined (it's a winterbourne... lining it won't keep the water in). The thing that really annoys the few 'locals' left is the insistence on planting daffodils everywhere... along the verges, round the speed limit signs... someone has now planted irises in the pond (they won't like it when the water table drops), and introduced ugly muscovy ducks (mind you, their eggs are delicious :p).

...oh yes... and the local authority has said the verges are theirs, they don't belong to the householders, and that if they put anything (stakes/stones) along the edges and they damage vehicles, they'll sue... so all the tatty white stakes have gone now :D

Get yourself on the parish council and start causing trouble :T

  • You are so right, Greenbee. These people have run out of things on their own properties to sand and titivate, and are now starting on the village. When they've done the village, they'll doubtless start on the villagers!

I'm not normally this feeble, but the problem is the people with the time to do these things are the retired golf captains et.c. whereas with a full time job, 2 small sprogs and being a governor at our primary school, I don't.

That does sound wet, even as I read it back...
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
