    Morning all
Very damp & drizzly here & today is when we are doing the BBQ, oh joy. The meat is all defrosted & the chicken marinaded. MIL & partner will be here before 12 & need feeding between 12 & 1, which is fine, BIL & friend might be here between 2 & 3 or 4 & 5 & may or may not have 3 teenagers with them. Or BIL maybe so drunk by the time they are ready to leave, they won't turn up at all, a few months ago he invited all the family to his & was then too drunk to do anything apart from sleep, so MIL ended up cooking the meal. I have enough food to feed an army & so have covered all eventualities. I still need to make the chocolate brownies, but will do that after the lodger & I have been for a walk.
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

Hi all - on a friend's laptop so have logged on to say 'hi' after what seems like months away. My internet connection should be finalised by 24th, hopefully sooner, but it has been a total nightmare dealing with France Telecom.

Hope everyone is keeping well - I must have missed so much news over the last couple of weeks, it will take ages to catch up.

It has been difficult out here without the internet and the house still needs a lot of work. I have been unwell, too, which hasn't helped.

Anyway, I'd better go.Will come back on here as soon as I can.

    Take care, everyone.

That long? :rotfl:My lot had a hunt in the garden for mini foil wrapped eggs and now OH has taken them to his mum's.

I've got a great big (8lb) chicken roasting away and a trifle in the fridge. Chicken leftovers for the rest of the week;) Wish I'd remembered the tarragon butter I have in a little bowl at the back of the fridge- would've been lovely rubbed on the chicken. Never mind I'll keep it for some salmon later later in the week. Have rubbed the chicken with garlic and za'atar spice blend instead.

The trifle has far too much sherry in it:D but I'm hoping the kids will be happy with chocolate for pud.

    Enjoy your Easter everyone:easter::easter_ba

Good morning. We had an easter egg hunt too, but as it was more of a trail than a hunt it was over very quickly. Ds was very pleased with his handful of mni eggs and his small Milky bar egg.

So far this morning I have planted some more seeds, the bread maker is on, the chicken has been rubbed with a herb and salt mix, and I have made two mermaid tails for ds's teddies. Now I have finished the mermaid tails, he is playing with his truck.

The weather looks good so far. Ds took his cornflakes into the garden this morning. I let him as last year the only good weather was in April and May, so best to enjoy it while we can.

I think we may be having the Christmas pudding today. DH was away at Christmas, so it's still sat in state in the cupboard waiting for another 4 hours steaming. It was home made by MIL, so should be good.

    Take care.

    Good morning all,

It's a glorious Easter day here, the sun is shining and everyone is in a good mood. Ds1 (15) got up at 5am to go to the dawn service which is held on a hill overlooking the town every Easter Sunday. I thought about going with him but bearing in mind the amount of wine consumed last night I decided against it.:o

We did the egg hunt too, but as ds1 was out and dd refused to get up, ds2 (8) did it on his own and it took him forever to find all the eggs. :D We're just getting ready to go to see Dad and Step-mum, then I'll put the turkey in the oven and we'll go out for a walk on the beach this afternoon. I know turkey is an odd choice for Easter (I'd much rather have lamb) but as dd is home from uni and it's her favourite I thought I'd indulge her....nothing to do with the fact that she said she wouldn't come home if I didn't cook turkey on Easter Sunday! :D It was a finest part boned and stuffed crown that I picked up earlier in the year reduced to clear so it's a cheaper option which is always good. ;)

Both boys are as high as kites as they were off chocolate and fizzy drinks for lent and have over-indulged this morning so I'd better go and sort them out.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Hi all

well trip to the coast has had to be shelved. Too many "comfort breaks" would be needed on the way IYKWIM lol:rotfl:

SO I am going to christen my new slow cooker - I have thrown some chicken in with mushrooms, onions, carrots, mixed herbs and red wine so I hope it comes out as something reasonably edible by 5 - 6 this evening!

Hubbie has decided to sort out the pantry as he says he is fed up with me buying more bl***y gadgets (bm, sc and steamer etc)and need more storage space - he is walking round muttering as I type!:rotfl: I keep telling him that they are all needed to save money etc but he is looking decidedly unconvinced!

Ah well he likes to feel useful so I will let him get on with it whilst I alternate between visits to the bathroom and pottering in the garden. Wierd thing is I do not feel ill!

Thriftlady that trifle sounds lovely! Hester hope the BBQ goes ok, weather has brightened up here so hope it does where you are! Tiredmum I would like details of that site too. Nice to hear from Moiliere hope internet sorted soon.

    Have a good day

    :icotbaske HAPPY EASTER

MMMMM chocolate - a few eggs handed out here and will be enjoyed after roast lamb dinner. DH and DS are giving DS's car a service today while weather is still dry. It's very dull here in Kent but feels warmer outside than it looks.

Nice to hear from Moliere, I bet she can't wait to get back on here regularly.

    Bargainbird - awwwww he's a sweetie

    Hugs to all xxxx
