OS Daily Thread - Easter Sunday

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Easter Sunday. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning OS friends! :easter:

Smokey - I hope you enjoyed your well deserved holiday.
SunnyGirl - Thinking of you and saying a prayer for you and your Mum and Dad.
christabell and Squiggly - that was a lovely sentiment, thank you so much
NoahsPM - Hope you enjoyed your day off yesterday hon
Elona and Redruby - Great minds think alike - I was going down the building society account route in my head too and then I can find some way to let them know in two years when the eldest is 16. I HATE that they are filling the boys heads with negativity the way they are.
idolikeadayoff - Put the kettle on! Where there is fudge cake there is room for one more at the table and I will be right there!
sistercas - I have just ordered that book from Amazon as I have vouchers to spend and the postage was free. I love cook books!
Pink and Thriftlady - thanks for the link to the book thread, I had a good read before I ordered it.

Halight - Hope you are Ok hon.
Moggins, ravylesley, mioliere, Ruth hi.gif

Am eating the last bowl of cold crumble for breakfast, the rhubarb is so delicious! I think today for dinner will be the ham hocks. We have decided to boil for a while and then roast - taking off fat and things as we seem fit.

Re my family - thank you ALL so much for the supportive comments and hugs, they were really appreciated. Oh I have no doubt that my mother and sister planned it - my sister does pretty much whatever my mother says, she is a real matriach and I wish I could be glad they are out of my life but OMG I miss my nephews - they used to stay here three weekends out of four as it gave my sister a break. (she has MS). Then it went down to once a month once my mother fell out with me and for the last year - nothing.

Anyway - My OH went to the continental market yesterday being held on the seafront and came home with some lovely cheeses - 3 pieces for £5, SO much cheaper than the supermarket.

Spent a lot of yesterday afternoon potting up seedlings and sowing seeds for the window sill. A few bedding plants for colour on the patio but the rest were peppers and chillis and tomatoes to grow in tubs in the garden. We have some potatoes ready to go out too but that will have to wait for the next sunny day.

I wish you all a peaceful and loving Easter Sunday.

Warm gentle grouphug.giffor all.

Morning MSD and all that follow :) Happy Easter everyone :)

Well, I am still at work thanks to my bacteria not behaving quite as well as they should (I know, I know....) but I get to go in a little while :) Unfortunatly the buses don't start for a few hours and it's a very long walk home when you've been up all night so I think I will hang on for a while.

OH is here as well, he seems better, which is good. He said he's cleaned the house, which is kind given all my ribbons were scattered all over the floor in the lounge. He's very tired though - he needs to sleep more than I do. I have insomnia and caffiene on my side :rotfl:

I will stick the chicken in the SC when I get in so it's ready for dinner. I might make some cakes later on after I've had a snooze, but I'm not planning anything too strenous today :)

Must go - a machine is bleeping at me :) have a good day all, cel x

Good morning everyone & a happy Easter :easter_ba :icotbaske

I'm up early again as I'm doing an experiment with my getting up times in the hope that it may help my migraines. I'm keeping the alarm set for the same time every day & getting up just to see if not having a lie in makes any difference. It'd be wonderful if it did, but having had them all my adult life I'm not holding my breath  I do enjoy having some peace on my own though so its not a hardship.

The WM is on its 2nd load (the 1st was done overnight) but I don't think its pegging out weather today. The gammon is in soak in the fridge ready for cooking today with roast potatoes, veggies & gravy followed by fresh fruit salad :D Lunch is soup & a sandwich. I'm listening to the radio & having my one & only coffee of the day (I drink tea the rest of the time). ((((((((((((((((((((big hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))) to all & especially those who are unwell, having treatment or are generally in need of one :A

    Morning & Happy Easter :easter_ba

Dry here but looking a little miserable at the moment. Had quite a good day yesterday & OH planted the rest of the seeds. I have some been sprout seeds in my kitchen which are already sprouting - very satisfying to see.

Have Mum & Step dad coming for dinner today, have a nice bit of beef from the butchers, cant even remember what cut the butcher said it was but he said it would be lovely and tender so heres hoping, that will go in the remoska.

Gonna get dressed in a min and take the dogs for a long walk - hopefully noone else is about so they can have a nice run off the lead.

Thats it for today - not much ostyling but I guess having people round for a homemade dinner counts

    Have a great day.

    Morning :hello:

Even though I'm a bit cold, I've opened my new doors - just because I can :D It's much lighter in here now.

I didn't cook the meat yesterday, there just wasn't time. So I'll do that today. Mum and dad are popping round at 10ish, they're returning my fave dish (mr tru made them a bread and butter pudding) so I'll make a huge sponge in it later.

The washing machine is on - yes I do use one ;):D

We've decided to go through all out kitchen stuff and decide what we want to keep. I say we, I mean me. We have gadgets that mr tru, FIL and my mum and dad bought over the years cos we 'need' them, but have only been used once then shoved in a cupboard. The dishwasher has a new home at my brother's house, the rarely-used tumble drier is going into the shed.

Might rip out a couple more cupboards today, I need room for that butcher's block

Good Morning all and a very Happy Easter to everyone:easter:
Had a great holiday and would reccomend the place we stayed to anyone it was only a small park with about 25 log cabins no clubs in the eve so we managed to spend loads of time together as a family in the hot tub just chatting and laughing OH and i also went on a tandem as we hired some bikes and did 12 miles:eek: my behind is still bruised have decided that we would really like a hot tub so need to pay a few bits off and then maybe treat ourselves.
Smoky I hope you had a great time with the kids i am glad it all worked out ok in the end.
Hugs to all those who need one not sure whats been happening while i was away will read through later on.
Mum is coming over for lunch today will be roast chicken and all the trimmings need to decide with her about the chelsea flower show as we had booked to go by boat down the thames but there is not enough interest so has now been changed to a saturday not too sure if it will be too busy
Have a good day and not too much:EasterBun

    Morning!

Bargainbird - just had a sneaky peek of Spike on yesterday's thread - oh my goodness, he is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Sunnygirl - relieved to hear about your dad :A

    Happy Easter everybody!:EasterBun

Off to my gran's today for lunch, no doubt she'll feed me until I can't fit any more food in :rotfl:hopefully I'll get to see my aunty and three cousins as well. They're 1, 3, and 5 and they're all so gorgeous :o Other plans include writing to my penpal, finish sorting out my bookcase (there is not enough room for all my books!), and GETTING SOME STUDYING DONE! I'm getting really quite bad at that

Have a great day everybody, ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) to anybody in need of one.

  • Morning,

and wishing you all a lovely Easter Sunday. Looks murkyish outside, but dry and I want to get my bedsheets out on the line as I love getting back in when it's all fresh. Obviously I'll be washing them too - not just taking them off the bed & putting on the line, lol!!!

MSDiva - I lurrrrve rhubarb... I bought a pack of 4 stalks in Mr T yesterday - reduced but still £1.75  I am going to find a little spot in the garden, and plant a bit. And just remember, you are the bigger person in what's going on...
Celyn, sometimes I'm sure you do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?!! Glad to hear your OH is a bit happier now. I'd be tempted to take my ingredients to work & make the cakes there - sounds like there's some equipment you could use in an alternative manner, lol!
Tru, you're beginning to sound like Betheebee with all the things you're doing! :)

And OSing is definitely having people round & cooking them lovely meals :) I am going to my mum's later, she is doing some lamb from a local butcher which should be lovely. I am making peach upside down cake for pudding. Also making some mini-egg crispy cakes as an alternative to Easter eggs for my little brother & his family.

Time for another cuppa here I think, have a good day all & ((((hugs)))) for all those needing one.
