Another vote for white vinegar and water in spray bottle and newspaper to shine. Better for the environment too and is dirt cheap!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I use a microfibre cloth and warm water with just a tiny amount of stardrops added. I dry it with another microfibre cloth which is clean and dry.
If you are cleaning glass that has had a build up of different cleaners on it then you might want to try hot water and vinegar a couple of times first. Once the build up has gone then start afresh and it should be much easier to clean.

when i was in morrisons i noticed they had several different cloths for cleaning. They were all £1 each and i got one for glass, one for the bathroom and one for the kitchen (they are all labelled for the different uses). With the glass one you just spray water onto the glass and wipe with the cloth. I was absolutely amazed at how good it was - no smears and no need for any cleaners. hth!0

I use Stardrops too, in a very dilute spray then finish with a microfibre cloth.
Stardrops is wonderful for just about everything too (cleaning surfaces, floors, car, windows and mirrors, carpets - you name it!)

i use an ecloth. no chemicals at all, just water and no smears!
or you could use white vinegar and newspaper.
In case anyone is interested, ecloths are half price at the moment at Waitrose and Tesco (both the ordinary ones and the glass-cleaning types). They've saved me a fortune in cleaning products and I always have one in the car for a smeary inner windscreen. They even now come in pink.My message to that greedy wunch of bankers:

Is there a cheap way to clean glass? We seem to spend alot on glass cleaning products as we have a glass table and lots of windows, and to be honest I am not that impressed with anything I try, I always seem to end up with smears (especially on the table.).
TIA
If ineffective products equate to a waste of money, then by the same token effective products, a small amount of which produce results with the minimum effort can be deemed value for money. In which case try and get your hands on a bottle of Mr Muscle PROFESSIONAL glass cleaner.

My late Dad always used methalayted spirits and newspaper, I suppose vinegar would be cheaper0
