cleaning windows

I've never managed to find anything that's really good for cleaning glass...always end up with smears and bits of fluff left behind! Can anyone recommend anything really effective please?

I was looking at a chamois leather cloth yesterday but it cost £5.99
Are they any good? I'd take some convincing before I 'invested' that sort of money!!

Thanks

Cor traf.....do you still buy newspapers??? How quaint ;) I read 'em online....have been known to *ahem*...'liberate' one that's been left behind on a bus....

I have tried the newspaper thing but I just can't get the hang of it! Do you wet it first? Can never get into the corners properly!

LOL no don't wet them ,use them dry and scrunch them up and the corners are what fingers are for:D

it's just practice,or use vinegar and cotton cloth;) (old sheets )no bits but lots of elbow grease needed.

Another user of newspaper and vinegar here. Put the vinegar and water mixture on with a j-cloth or similar then dry with the scrunched up newspaper.

Your hands end up filthy but no smears on windows or mirrors :j

micro fibre cloths are really good for cleaning glass and anything else for that matter. You can wring them out almost dry, and do not even need to use any soap for glass and mirrors, The cheapest I have seen them is in Matalan 3 for £1.99, and they last for virtually ever because they are proper material can be washed in the Washing Machine. Loads of places sell them Aldi, Wilkinson, Asda just for a few they are usually located with the dusters, disshcloths etc.

Another vote for microfibre cloths. They're also great for cleaning stainless steel.

another vote for microfibre cloths...i buy mine at factory outlet for 99p. get the ones which look more like a face cloth. find the brand name ones the supermarkets sell are not as good.
they last for ages...best tip is to wash your windows as they come out of the washing machine. they are just at the right "dampness" after the spin cycle.

fab for tiles too..stainless steel..any kind of housework in fact. no cleaning liquids required.
