hi all
I have been using some sort of tescos own glass spray for my windows, but truth be told it doesnt really work that well
I now am in the throes of sorting the flat out for having the estate agents round and need to clean my windows PERFECTLY
I have all the usual storecupbard gear, some of yesterdays newspaper ( which I believe can be used for cleaning glass??) and one of those blade things window cleaners use
Can someone tell me how to do it so they GLEAM??? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I do the following:
Fill a bucket with very hot water -you will need to use gloves!! Pour in about 40 ml vinegar. Using a lint free cloth, wipe the solution over the window. Then I scrape off the water with one of those window cleaning scrapers (what ARE they called ?!?). You will need to be firm to get as much water off as you can. Then finally buff to a shine with paper towels. My friend uses newspaper for the last bit, but I've not tried that!
Good luck with the sale!!Everything in moderation..............including moderation..............0 -
I use a spray of water and vinegar. To be honest it's a very weak solution and I'm happy with the results. I just spray on and rub it off with either kitchen roll or newspaper. I find kitchen roll easier and less streaky and it is good for the composter.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I just get a bowl of vinegar, dip the scrunched sheet of newspaper in and wipe away. Instant gleaming windows, no hassle. If you do inside, give it a 5 min blast with the windows open to get rid of the smell, it'll go really quickly, don't worry.
However, be careful with the newspaper tip if you have pvc windowframes, I understand the black smudges don't come off very easily. If that is the case, you may be better using a lint or microfibre cloth instead of newspaper.0 -
cheers will get on with it now! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Just wondering what people think is the best way to clean windows (inside). Windowlene? Stardrops? Water and Vinegar?
I am definitely going to do mine this weekend, as they haven't been done since we moved into this house (don't ask me when that was!), but I am not looking forward to it, so any tips to make it easier would be appreciated!
Thanks!0 -
For dirty windows, I wash with hot soapy water, dry with a cloth and then polish with a dry cloth. To polish, I have used diluted vinegar, Windolene, shower spray and probably other stuff I've forgotten. So long as the windows are clean and the cloth dry and lint free, I've found anything works well.0

Hi Fitzio,
There's an older thread with lots of tips for cleaning windows that might help so I've added your thread to it to keep all the suggestions together.
These threads might help too:
