A couple of different hospitals have tried going down that route Elle... It causes a lot of hassle for them via the media...

If you go in with the intention to breastfeed and they have all the right support systems in place then there's no reason for them to have formula for those who have problems...

I also wouldn't recommend buying any for 'just in case' either... There's always the notion that you've paid for it, you might aswell use it... Whereas if there's nothing to fall back on then you're more likely to succeed at breastfeeding... There were a couple of times I thought I might give up with Aimee and I think if I'd of had formula in the house at 1am then I probably would of caved and given her a bottle... But because I didn't have the option, I stuck it out... And I'm glad I did...

It's obviously not been in place long enough for the complaints to appear on our local newspaper website.. Only a matter of time, I'm sure!

They are very pro-breastfeeding. Posters everywhere about it and monthly "intro to breast feeding" sessions. One of my old school friends is training in breast feeding support right now - her baby is about 5mths old so she's giving practical demos to the groups! :)

Ooh, thanks for that. Hopefully she'll see this and let me know how useful it is.

I have seen this recommended but it's £40 so don't want to get one unless it's really necessary. DH said that if I want one I should get it now so that I get as much use out of it as possible but it isn't cheap. I'm just not sure

    Hi,

I have a dreamgenii, whilst not exactely money saving its a good buy. Although my partner moans he can't get near me in bed ! It's comfy when you sleep on your left hand side but i'm not so keen on it on the right as you put the long bit through the back of your legs.

What is the storage on expressed breast milk now?

I figure after the recent guidelines on how to make up a formula feed, I aint goin to be doing that!

I'm imagine that the hospitals still have the premature baby formula feeds though, I remember giving it to DS1 and 2 to top up their feeds. And also EBM from a little cup.

Breastmilk storage is great, it lasts a lot longer than formula, actually has antibacterial properties ;)

this is the one i have - but i didn't pay that much for it because i bought second hand on ebay :money:

sls i remember that feeling too well, at least the end is in sight for you and you know when you will be getting induced, just sucks on a bank holiday!

i've just dressed seth and seen a big patch of red raw skin in his armpit, the poor little man! it had little bits of soft scabs in the creases too, i got really upset for a minute its funny how being a mum makes you feel. i think it looks a bit like a fungal infection and it smells a bit nasty, god knows where he could have picked it up from though. i've cleaned it with water and cotton wool.

now i'm obviously not asking for medical advice ;) but what do i do about getting it looked at? he isnt registered with a doctor yet, do i make an appointment for me and get him looked at instead? or do i need to register him first? or can i take him to see the midwives at the hospital he was born at still? he's 4 weeks old on sunday.

why do these things always happen on bank hoilidays when everything is closed?
emlou my friends LO had what that sounds like (it was a fungal infection and appeared as if from nowhere), I'd bathe it in salt water if its not too sore and put sudacrem on it to help it heal try to keep it as dry as poss and try NHS direct they will tell you if it can wait to be seen or not and get him registered at GPs this week its just a form you fill in and they take a copy of birth cert x

Elle - I think the saying goes if you have rapid hair growth it's a boy due to the extra testerone in the body. Opposite for you then!
I was really hairy with Chris but complete opposite with this one - part of the reason I though he was gonna be a girl

re cotton buds - MIL has some with a tiny bud that can't get stuck anywhere cos then they get really fat! I think they are from Boots and are called Safety Buds

    http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10052&productId=42198&callingViewName=&langId=-1&catalogId=11051

    Typical - no picture!
these sound like the "safety buds" that asda do, I use them and think they are fab for ears and nose, bubbas move so fast even if ur being careful with a normal bud they can jolt and end up with one right in there

I can't stand those aspirator things _pale_ I really don't see the need for them

Is there an alternative to gripe water that can be bought off the shelf? DH is allergic to fennel and from googling "gripe water", it seems that fennel is one of the ingredients
coleif, dentinox, infacol... there are many ;) just have a look in the baby dept of asda/tesco they're all there with bonjella etc

EDIT - gripe alternatives (hope that works) http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?Nr=AND%28DIM_BASIC_RECORD_TYPE_ID%3aIS_PURE_PRODUCT%2cDIM_PARENT_PRODUCT_ID%3aIS_PARENT%29&Ntk=All&langId=-1&catalogId=11051&Rpp=10&Ne=4294336391&Ntt=colic&storeId=10052&Ntx=mode%2bmatchall&searchTerm=colic&N=4294336384&pageSize=12

  • I have just logged on to have a moan but a PM from pompeygirl has cheered me right up! Thanks hun!

Hubby gone out on a bike ride, so thought I make use of the time and clean the insides of the windows. It's offical, this pregnancy lark is making me do crazy things! I've done the frames but need to dig out a microfibre cloth for the glass.

and I've slipped in the kitchen, hurt my knee and my toe :( Just had a smartie doughnut to make me feel better and 5 mins on here before I finish windows!
