I was just going to ask if your night owl was still awake! :) Just as I hit "post", mine did something really odd - was either his head or his bum he just stuck out! Probably his bum with OH as his father!

Speaking of OH, he's just wandered in and thrown himself down on the sofa. He's talking jibberish (tired not drunk!) so I'd best make him go to bed - he's up at half six!

Taking my mag to bed - leaving ScrewFix catalogue on the sofa!

    Night night xx

    Hi all :o

    Just a quick update!

Baby Toby born 19:40 on 15th April. 7lb 7oz and all healthy.

Went to the delivery suite to get BP checked on the evening of 14th, diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and wasn't allowed home! Slept overnight, then induced in the morning. Baby didn't like being induced and got quite distressed, so was prepped for C-Section. Doctor decided to give me an hour longer to try naturally, and managed to go from 5cm to 10cm in that hour and managed a natural birth! Had lots of gas and air and an epidural that didn't give full coverage. Was pretty trauamatic and high risk, OH thought he was going to lose both of us. Had two midwifes at all times, assigned just to me and they didn't leave the room for the whole labour. Usually had about 4 people in the room, lots of coming and going and going.

Will write proper story when I get a chance. He is a very sleepy baby and isn't latching on well so lots of feeding. Making progress though!

Persuaded them to let me home after 24 hours, glad to be in my own bed but feel a bit sick and achy, but suppose that is to be expected!

    Congratulations Feelie :T:j:T

Toby is lovely! Hope you are settling in at home nicely and that the feeding is going okay...

    Take care

  • Wow, you lot stay up late!

I'm off to work this morning, which sucks, a lot. Would much rather stay at home and watch Saturday Kitchen and potter in the garden.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Elle- hope the scan is fab today. Will you be posting any pics?

I've been awake since 6 but only got up at 7... Bit annoyed as I really wanted a lie in this morning with DH being home from his fishing trip. He caught nothing edible but had an ok day and I think it did him good to have a day out of the office in the fresh air bless him :)
Today I really want to try and plan my allotment plot - and work out how much the bits I want/need are going to cost... it's probably about 2 weeks till we officially open them so really want to get my plans in place ASAP :)

oh dear, had a bit of a to-do with hubby last night.
he really wants to find out sex of the baby when we go for next scan. i really dont want to. but then he said that it feels to him like i am making all the decisions and that its 'my baby' and not 'our baby'. felt awful, so think i may have to compromise on this one. so if we found out the sex and not tell a soul (not even on here) how easy a secret would it be to keep for 20 weeks??
has anyone previously managed to do just that??
    thanks

Not sure how many will have answered you, but we found definite sex out with DS2 at about 26 weeks (20 week scan *thought* he was a girl) and kept it a secret from everyone (other childrrn included) until he was born. We found sex of this one out at about 13 weeks (thanks to CVS) - and told our other children 2 days ago (I'm now 35 1/2 weeks) - so, yes, it IS possible :D

Dooleys - no advice on loft extension really! Just be warned on schedules - we got our achitect in for drawings last summer, had several different builders quotes, settled on one who quoted 8 week schedule depending on weather. He started in mid November and is still here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    .

Re lofts - we had quotes in DEc, booked over Xmas, work started in Jan and took 9 weeks - should have taken 8, but snow meant 1 week out! Now it's just decorating/ flooring to finish off - and we're running out of time! Oh, and we've accidentally found a new bedroom suite (eek cost - American oak, handcrafted) for it whilst just looking for a chest of drawers or similar for the landing....... but delivery men will carry it up - which saves us the hassle of doing that with our old stuff :rotfl::rotfl: Our stairs are twisty and v narrow, so we shall see.......

Belly bands are the way of the future. They're about a fiver, and they're amazing. I'm six months in and still wearing some of my pre pregnant pants with the band to hold them up.

Seconded! I'm basically 8 months and only have 2 prs mat trousers and about 4 mat tops - have been wearing normal (hipster) trousers with bump bands most of the time with normal tops :D

    Hello ladies and bumps!:D

Jillie - OH and I have been trying to find out what flavour bump is from the word go but havent yet and am now 34+5. However I sat down with OH and discussed what he wanted to do at the birth... he didnt know he could be involved. So the plan is that he will relay all instructions, cut the cord, and announce the sex as it seems we wont find out before hand. Also have involved OH in names, nursery colour, etc so he doesnt feel left out.

Sugarspunsister - please let me know how the ECV goes... it seems my bubs is stubborn as well.

    :mad:Rant alert

I had my 34week MW appt and she said, well you are still breech so I will refer you for a C section. I said "erm no thank you" this caused a bit of suprise from midwife who didnt understand that I dont want a Csection unless it is an emergency. I know it is a bit quirky but personally I dont want an elective Csection, infact I dont want any elective operations if it can be avoided. All my MW said was well you will need to discuss this with the obstetrician at your next appointment as vaginal breech births are very dangerous. But I know that is bull as there are ECV available and I know a few people whose first babies were breech, and hey had no problems, just like I know my mum had problems with me but I was positioned correctly. I really dont like my MW and am so glad I am going to be seen by the obstetrician... if I end up with that woman in the room with me when giving birth there may be a bit of a situation. Grrrr:mad: Rant over :D

My first was an undiagnosed breech - discovered when I was 5cm dilated - tehy were more than happy for me to continue - I fully dialted and pushed for over 2 hours - but she was a frank breech - toes by ears - so was not going to come out without a Cs! However, I'm glad I had teh chance to labour with her, even if CS was the result - she wasn't in distress throughout and CS was only cos she was effectively stuck. Depends on midwife - mine was an older, more experienced and v calm one. A breech birth will mean loads of peeps in the room though - and feet in stirrups for pushin!
