    Hi everyone!

New to this but had to tell someone! Me and OH decided to start trying for first baby last month thinking it would take maybe 6 months before we were successful. Came off pill about 6 weeks ago and now just found out i'm about 4 weeks pregnant!!
Was a bit of a shock so soon but over the moon. :rotfl: Made the decision beforehand that we weren't gonna tell anyone until 12 weeks, including the parents, so thought i'd post it on here so i don't explode!
Any hints & tips would be really appreciated. Still not really sunk in.

    x

BIG congratulations. I also came off the pill after 12 years and I fell pregnant straight away. I thought it would take me 6 months, so when my period didnt come the next month I was shocked!!

I'm afraid I told my mummy straight away (after OH of course) as I couldnt hold it in. Although I didnt intend to tell anyone until after 12 weeks, my mother told everyone anyway, they just didnt tell me that they knew!

I'm not really tempted to tell the parents yet, quite happy having it to ourselves for a while. OH is deparate to tell his mum tho - will be their first grandchild whereas mine already have 5 grandkids from my 2 older sisters. Plus we're going on holiday with his parents & sister in June and i'll be about 11-12 weeks so they might guess if we don't tell them beforehand.

Do want to tell my sister tho - mainly cos her youngest will be 3 in september & they're not having any more & i'm hoping for lots of freebies e.g. pram, cot etc (the expensive stuff!) before they get rid ot it!!

    Thank you!
Spent an hour so far trying to catch up with this thread & not getting very far. Still feel a bit detached from it all cos only found out on Thursday, haven't seen doc yet so don't have a EDD other than the one i've estimated myself (which is around 25th Dec!!) & we're still in shock that OH's sperm are obviously not as lazy as he is!

Congrats! Have you added yourself to the EDD list?
It took me 3 months to get pregnant, which was a shock. Me and OH thought it would take at least a year lol.

Xmas day baby! Wow :) Mine will be born just before xmas hopefully :)

But welcome to the thread, its great lol :) x

I have a MW appointment on Tues, and another scan in 3 weeks - I'm hoping they might be able to finally tel me a definite sex for the baby. They told me at 20 weeks it was a girl, but now I'm worried that I've gone a bit far buying dresses, hats etc when it could turn out to be a boy!

    Have a lovely day :)

Me too I have 4d scan in 4 weeks. I have been told girl but can't help thinking they have it wrong.

hello to newbie, newbie maz :p

Mooki - I think you should call GP/MW first thing on Monday just in case . I don't know what the neuro wotsits are but increased white blood cells can be signs of infection so I would think they need to do some further tests (hope that doesn't sound scary coz it could be nothing - I'm NOT a doctor)

How do i add myself to EDD list? Might wait until i get a proper date!
We originally decided to start trying now thinking it could take up to a year, especially with us both being smokers until Feb, but i was secretly hoping for 4 to 6 months. Neither of us were expecting a 2009 baby!

P.S. Apart from the occasional panic attack about not being ready for it, i'm feeling really good at the minute. When does the morning sickness etc usually start?
