    hi,

its my due date today (as well as sparkles) but no signs as yet. I did ask my hubby to try to induce me this morning iykwim ;) but he's not been interested in having sex with me for months :( and we only got married in Nov (I can count the no of times we've done it since we got wed on my hands) Wouldnt be so bad if my pregnancy hormones hadnt made me so horny!

I have gbs as well, have had it in my water for 3-4 weeks and its given me hip and back pain (to the extent that I was almost immobilised and thought that my hip was seized up)- I only discovered the other day that by taking paracetamol (i never normally take any pills for pain) that not only does the pain go but i can actually walk normally again - must have just been the pain making me hobble! Waiting for the latest set of urine results cos the last 2 courses of abs didnt clear up the uti - although think they have run out of preg safe ABs that will work...and had sooooo many problems with the hosp losing results/not testing in the first place cos of wrong containers etc. argh!

I dont think it matters too much about not getting the IV abs for 4 hrs during labour - if they dont catch you in time they give them directly to the baby, and I agree knowing you have GBS is better than not knowing either way. Not that its a big deal- my MW was saying you watch your baby like a hawk for the 1st couple of days anyway, which makes me wonder why they make you stay in hosp for 48hrs after the birth, but ho hum.

anyway, now the pain has gone and i can walk again i have more energy to do the nesting type things i've been putting off - just hope i've not left it too late!! also joined the ebay thread today to try to motivate myself to sell....just need to stop talking about it and actually do it...like finishing packing my hosp bag (oh the shame!!). Time for action.....must turn off the internet.....

The last thing you want is for them to give the baby the antibiotics. They take the baby away from you, mine for 3 days. The only place they could eventually get the drip in was his foot, took ages and lots of trying. They have to be kept in Special Care and the antibiotics do have side effects. Even after the antibiotics we were warned to keep a very close eye on him for the 1st month. I sat on a ward with other mums for all that time with no baby. Please, please try to get to the hospital in time for you to have them! X
Too many children, too little time!!!

Sami,or anyone really, please can you change my EDD to 28th October? They changed it at my scan yesterday.(the exact date my mum died last year!) I was upset at first but I can now kinda see it as a good thing if anyone knows where Im coming from. And anyway there is only a very small chance it will be born on due date.

Yes I have packed a bag for me and one for bubs! I have a little trolley case and in that there is a separate bag with all my labour bits in.

    So in labour bag I have;

    Black Nightie
Thick socks (just in-case no water birth)
    Lip balm
    Massage oil
    Refreshing Wipes
    Flannel
    Evian spray thingy
    Tissues
    Hair bobbles/Grips and Clamp
Ipod just in-case Tom has to go somewhere
    Fox’s Glacier Mints

    In suitcase I have;

    2x pjs
    Light dressing gown
    slippers
    5x knickers
    Bra
    3x pair’s breast pads
    1x pack boots maternity towels
    1x pack always silk towels
    Towel
    Bag of toiletries
    Outfit to wear home
    Glasses and contact lens stuff

Camera is on charge *must remember to pack*
    Plastic bag for ‘messy stuff’

    For bubs

    3x vests
    3x sleepsuits
    Going home outfit inc coat
    1x cellular blanket
    1x cashmere shawl
    Scratch mits
Baby nail clippers (Joshua’s nails were v long when he was born)
    Small pack nappies
    Pack wipes
    Cotton wool
    Vaseline
    Dummy :o:p

I think thats all of it! I dont plan on staying long hehe

Oh yeah also have some ribena cartons and capri suns frozen in the freezer

Evans - how did the risk assessment go?

Quite good, they asked me some questions about the pregnancy, asked when i was due and when my scan is (incase EDD changes)
Asked if i was comfortable at my desk, i said yes.
Asked if i had morning sickness - No
Asked if i was stressed/tired. - YES! lol.

So i said i want to do the early shifts at work so i finish at 7pm every day, leaving me enough time to cook and eat a proper meal and go to bed at a reasonable hour :)

She said i'll have another meeting with HR next week to sort it and asked if i wanted to reduce my daily hours from 10 to 8, and i said no for the moment.

The she said i'll have another assessment when im further along and if i ever need a foot rest or a back rest to ask and i'll get them :)
