Hi
I used to have a similar problem with virgin. It turned out that our house was at the extreme end of possible broadband from the exchange. We found that our signal would drop every evening(peak use). Eventually we were able to get BT out and they fitted a booster socket on the main BT socket in the house which raised the volume of the Broadband signal just enough that our Broadband router could pick it up and connect.
We now have broadband 100% all the time.
